This isn‘t a wild take to anyone not from the US. Winning a national tournament doesn’t make a “world champion” by any means.

As a fan of the sport, I would love to see a Club World Cup style tournament for basketball. The final would always end up being NBA vs Euroleague but it would still be entertaining to watch.

If NBA teams took it seriously the European teams would get dusted something vicious. There is an insane talent gap

Yes because you can only earn that title by winning a worldwide or international competition (which man city did btw by winning the club world cup)

Well, we don’t give a shyt . If you’re the champion of by far the best league in your sport, you’re the world champion. The indian cricket champion is the world champion. If there was any case to the different you’d pull up in fiba or olympics, but when we actually try you all get washed. Like mentioned, its funny because nba apparel says nba champion, so we just rightfully ordain them as world champions.
