Who was he goin @ with these lines?

"You wasn't saying you was a thug before Pac came
Ten years ago you had a high top trying to be like Kane
Then Snoop released and it became a G thang
Claim sets, your city ain't got gangs
nikkas ain't hate you, they ain't paying you no attention
In a circle of fakkits, your name is mentioned"

Could just be to any "John Doe" tho.

I hate sublims like this where its impossible to figure out who they talking about and they
never get asked about it.

Alot of underground rappers, like Common used to be, be like that. Love Common otherwise tho.

God's Plan
I always crack up when he says “In a circle of fakkits, your name is mentioned” :mjlol:

Imagine 2020 “Let Love” Common performing that song now :mjlol:
played this today and these were my thoughts exactly. lonnie would never talk this spicy ona track nowadays.

honestly, i always thought it was about ja rule. 'grunting' and 'holla' he's the first rapper that comes to mind.

and again on electric circus.

I'd rather listen to silence than you holla
Borrowed your persona from the late that made Dear Mama

to think we coudlve gotten a ja rule vs common battle.
:ehh:

Maybe Twista? I am not all that familiar with Twista pre- "Po Pimp". He definitely was on the thug tip on Adrenaline Rush. Twista had a high top. Adrenaline Rush has a song that samples "G Thang". I know Twista is also from the Chi and the Chi definitely has gangs, but I don't know much about the K-Town area Twista grew up or how it was during that area. The "in the circle of fakkits, your name is mentioned" could refer to male fans of his singles "Get It Wet" and "Emotions".

I don't know if Twista and Common had a lil' silent beef, but this could've been something for them to trade shots about:

Two years later, Twista released an indie album "Resurrection". Due to problems with record labels and marketing issues involving fellow Chicago rapper Common's album of the same name, the album was only released in the city of Chicago and thus got very little national attention despite its prospect to become a hit.

^^^ could've fueled the whole "they ain't hate you, nikkas ain't paying you no attention" line

I don’t think it was aimed at anyone specific. Just generally dissing mainstream antics. Kind of if the shoe fits wear it type shyt. He did it on electric circus too.
