2 Guns did 131 Mil worldwide (75 Mil in the US)..
Safe House did MUCH more than expected and ended up with a worldwide total of 208,076,205 mil dollars (126 Mil in the US).
Unstoppable did 167 Mil worldwide (81 Mil in the US).
Some of the actors who make more than Denzel right now...
Johnny Depp outside of Tim Burton and The Pirates movies... Can't even pull in 30 Mill with his name in flicks like Transcendence and The Rum Diary.
Robert Downy Jr.. has the Iron Man and Sherlock franchise. We'll see if he can pull folks in with the Judge...
Leo is more of a pull based off of his name.. but he wasn't doing that until he started working with Scorcese. He wasn't the draw for Titanic.. The Beach is proof of that.
Liam Neeson... is the only one who draws more than Denzel that isn't really locked into a franchise outside of Taken.

Sorry breh you're wrong. Movie stars may not be the only thing that can sell a movie but they're definitely an integral part of the equation most of the time.

I can't agree with you on Lawrence. Her stuff outside of Hunger Games is actually worth a watch. I actually check for her in films. I've never felt like that towards an actress.

dont really know much about her but I know this thread aint about personal. My point wasnt that outside hunger games she does shytty or boring movies cuz i dont really rate hunger games. I am just saying she aint the draw hollywood would have u believe

Dude we are in an era where a dude can sign up to a movie it blows and turns into a franchise. Then said actor sinks into obscurity the rest of his career. You think marvel couldnt have got a well known actor to play starlord? Thor or cap? How do any of these actors do outside of these marvel flicks as leads? Would u call them stars? transformers is still making money with or without shia. Actors are as interchangeable as ever while gimmicks like 3d, remakes, sequels and franchises are the premiere ticket to success who do you think makes out of all this smilling to the bank

Those aren't the best examples. You don't need big names in those roles because the brand and the franchise sells itself. However - just like in the original Superman movie - they still surrounded their relatively unknown leads with big name talents to lend it a little more credibility. Thor starred Anthony Hopkins and Rene Russo. Cap starred Tommy Lee Jones and Hugo Weaving.
But when it comes to unknown material and NON-franchises, you need big names to sell the concept. Take away Nolan and McConaughey from Interstellar and replace them with an unknown director and an unknown lead and you tell me if there's still any buzz left.

Terrible examples especially for Captain America. That is America's "first superhero". That was gonna sell regardless. Just needed an actor that wouldn't fukk it up and some good writing.
shyt you're talking about is really circumstantial. Take Battleship for example, movie was just bad all around. Only good thing about was watching Brooklyn Decker's pretty ass. No amount of A-Listers would have helped that movie. Another movie is John Carter. I believe with a more well known lead guy, that movie might have done better than it did. Not shytting on Taylor Kitsch becuz I don't mind him too much but the movie wasn't really that bad.
Now the point again I'm tryna make to you that it is still simply circumstantial. I used the same lead actor for two different movies. One movie was just completely bad and the other was ok but probably would have done better with a more recognizable lead.
