Jones is trash but is pretty athletic

Purdy is pretty average as far as arm talent, made a few WF throws that didn’t cost his team, but can also somewhat read defenses and take advantage of being on a stacked team.

You switch QBs and Jones might get his ass shipped out while Purdy looks like shyt on a bad team.

I’d say Purdy has the slightest edge.

Ya'll acting like everyone just automatically balls out in Shanny's office. They just shipped Trey and Jimmy ass out of dodge for a reason.

Trey for a pick, and Jimmy got shipped when Purdy showed they could win with him for a fraction of what Jimmy was gonna get… Jimmy got 45 mil guaranteed this year….. Purdy is making less than a milli

Put Jones on the 49ers and he would look great.

That being said Jones is mid, can’t see the field well, has poor pocket presence at times, afraid to throw if his receiver isn’t wide open and can’t throw TD’s.
All the things you are saying Jones is would make him fail horribly in Kyle Shanahan's offense.

Brock ain't an elite talent by any means but the things he does do really well are his vision, pocket awareness and never being afraid of following the design and throwing with precision and anticipation to the spaces WRs are designed to be at.

I've seen every snap of the Shanahan era and the closest we got to someone showing those things at the QB position was Jimmy G in his first 2 years with us. The injuries fukked him up and made him a statue, his pocket awareness went to shyt and he was scared to death to throw with any anticipation, as he would always wait for receivers to get open and then make a throw (which would lead to INTs or passes being too lata).

Purdy would probably be average at best in most NFL teams but Daniel Jones wouldn't be doing shyt in the 49ers offense considering he doesn't do the things that Kyle's scheme necessitate the most (and that Brock does very well).

Purdy follows the game plan well, but he is not throwing guys open are really hitting any deep or anticipatory spots in the field at the moment….. I’ll give him another 6 weeks before making any judgment calls, because regardless of what he says, I’m pretty sure his elbow is still bothering him….

Team is averaging 31 PPG with Purdy. Jimmy G never got close to those numbers.

He does though, he has at least 3-4 throws every game he does before the receiver is making a cut, getting open or turning his head to see him/where the ball is. The All 22 footage is there is you wanna watch it :manny:

It’s not that Purdy was winging it deep every chance he got. According to Pro Football Focus, 11.6 percent of his attempts were throws 20-plus yards downfield. That puts him in the middle of the pack league-wide. However, it’s a pretty substantial uptick from Garoppolo’s 9.1 percent which ranked 31st in the NFL.

The bigger and more important change though was the efficiency from the QBs on those throws. Purdy attempted just one fewer deep throw than Garoppolo, but completed three more of them. He also converted four of those tosses into touchdowns compared to just one for his predecessor.

Deep ball completion rate lines up roughly with three-point percentages in the NBA. Purdy’s 40.7 percent completion percentage on throws 20-plus yards down the field is very good, and ranked 12th in the NFL last season.
