Thread only further convinces me electric is the way. You get the most power without worrying about mpg and moving parts/engine failure. And it's a nice quiet ride and nobody hears you coming. You can move like a ninja. Just need a garage to charge and you good.

Ev cars are heavier and do more damage to the roads and on top of that they don’t pay any road tax because they don’t use gasoline. Batteries cost a brick. The amount of pollution it takes to extract:
  • Lithium
  • Cobalt
  • Manganese
  • Nickel
  • Graphite
is equal to the amount it takes to extract the same amount of oil.

ngl, I sometimes move around in an old hybrid Camry and the combo of quiet and quick torque is :whew: blowing past Camaros and whatever else I want to with ease
That's how I felt when I was in a Lexus/Lincoln. I love the peace + speed.

... Wait hold up. You passing thru Camaros in a Camry??? You talking about the new ones right?

Pros and cons

Electric is fast but it feels different. Not necessarily in a good way in my opinion

True. Feels like a glorified bumper car. But I've only been in Tesla's and Nissan Ariya so still need more experience to conclude.

They had a lease special for the acura zdx for like 200 a month. I was close to leasing it for work is fast but nahh i think plug in hybrid is for me nice mix of both. Think the x5 50e is perfect turbo inline 6 with hybrid

Got a V8 SUV, I love it for the power. They changed the regulations so now all the manufacturers are trying to replace 2 cylinders with a turbo, but turbos are terrible. I’ll never drive a turbo again, I’ll get an EV first

The modern turbocharged 6 is by every measurable aspect better than a V8.

Lighter, more fuel-efficient, similar power...

But there's no replacing the sound and smoothness of a v8. You'll also sacrifice a little bit of throttle response, but that's more DBW related than engine-displacement related.

You're not all the way correct here.

Naturally aspirated V8s are more reliable, less maintenance, and easier to work on. Also you can still touch 30 mpg with some V8s, though mpg isn't what buyers really think about.

Meanwhile the bigger the engine means you're at the gas station filling up multiple times a day, if you're actually doing some spirited driving which is the purpose of getting them. That and more expensive oil changes, bigger possible engine damage repairs. No thanks.
Brodie I had a 900hp Z06 that ran rich and never was I at the gas station filling up multiple times a day.

Ask Toyota about that. Their new turbos keep blowing up. Turbo lag is a non-starter for me they suck

I'm getting older and becoming more conservative in age. I like to drive in silence or listen to my Candace/Tatum/Stephen A clips :manny:

Just saying, with time those things will change. I don't need no loud ass V8 letting everyone know I'm coming or going. I'm a car guy too. But the farther I've gone down the car guy's internet, the more I realize it's just a dikk measuring contest.

V8s don't have to be loud though. Toyota made plenty of V8s that were quiet.

Bigger engine don't mean bigger repairs. V8s today get 250,000 miles easy with just basic oil changes.

EV doesn't start in harsh winters. They have nowhere near the range on long trips. They can't tow for shyt. You can't do your own repairs.

My Sierra has 257k miles I have had less issues with this vehicle than most people have with the 4 cylinder and that probably has to do with me doing proper maintenance. I'm not filling it up multiple times like you think many people do. I use this truck as my haul things off from my property so I use it a lot.
