G8 felt much more practical
Got it. Yeah the 5th gen Camaro is a shoebox :russ: if you get a G8 make sure you have somebody look at (or listen to really, there's no way to actually see) the valvetrain. If it ticks and clatters then the car wasnt taken care of. If its smooth and quiet itll run another 100k if you keep the oil changed regularly.

Yea turbo cars kinda scare me but that q50 with the 3.0t been able to get up to 500hp and they're pretty cheap for the potential
Cheap-Fast-Reliable. Pick two.:yeshrug: that's the golden rule of cars.
That's true, except the part about a bad tank ruining the engine.
I'm not trying to be a dikkhead here but do you know how a turbocharged engine works?:jbhmm:

And what happens if the octane rating of your gasoline falls below what the engine needs in order not to pre-detonate? E.g. oil/water in your gas?

The hot air from the turbo combined with low octane gas will literally allow the air+fuel mix to combust early and send the piston sideways in the motor.

Ask the Ford Ecoboost guys.

Same thing that happens to every other car.

Knock sensor tells ECU to pull engine timing to lower compression ratio, engine doesn't go boom.

But it has to knock first...which is the issue. And 99% of drivers don't know what detonation feels like, so when the ECU pulls timing and suddenly the car has 40 less HP, they mash the gas to counter the hesitation = motor is knocking again.

I know this because my girl blew up her Ecoboost fusion because "it wouldn't go" :snoop:

EDIT: But ima rep you because you I respect knowledgeable car brehs. Too many grown ass men that don't know a motor from a toaster.

That's gotta be a manufacturer's defect. There's no way anyone should be able to blow up a modern engine with just bad gas. Maybe the knock sensor was bad or something. But damn that sucks. Did the warranty cover it?

Bad gas + Carbon on the valves/Head. It was hotspotting. I knew that without even opening it up but we weren't far along enough in the relationship for me to play mechanic BF:russ:

They didn't "cover" it per se but gave her full value on a trade in. Snake ass dealer:hhh:

If you complain about gas mileage, don't do it. I would always choose a v8 over a v6/v6 twin turbo. I do regret long daily driving a v8/v10 though. Terrible on gas with a heavy foot is a understatement.
My history with v8's is insane now that I think about it :ohhh:

What V8's have you test driven?
almost everything you can think of, any questions?
Still follows general format of cars/regions

i have a 2010 lexus IS-F with 430HP naturally aspirated 5.0 V8. the exhaust note is worth it alone.
Meisterschaft exhaust thank me later :myman:
I enjoyed the ISF over the e92 for daily driving uses. Probably because of the different trans

Ive owned over 39 cars and say I really enjoy the torque of a naturally aspirated V8 but I also love the feeling of having the turbo spool on a I4 and V6. If comes down to what you want. Just remeber that these new cars with V6's are more powerful that older V8 cars (sub 2006). See what fits your budget and and go from there. Most Americans dont really need more than 300hp.
