The modern turbocharged 6 is by every measurable aspect better than a V8.

Lighter, more fuel-efficient, similar power...

But there's no replacing the sound and smoothness of a v8. You'll also sacrifice a little bit of throttle response, but that's more DBW related than engine-displacement related.

I own 3, one German (garbage), one American (fantastic), one Japanese (fantastic). American is most efficient, Japanese and American most reliable, German is fukin useless and a money pit. Prefer V8s purely for the reliability aspect and predictable/linear power. That being said, newer turbocharged engines will offer better torque per specific displacement, be more efficient if you stay out of boost, and are much easier and cheaper to extract more power out of. It’ll be near impossible to buy an affordable ( if any) V8 in 10 years.

I have 3.

But I was raised in a musclecar household.

My girl drives a turbo 4 sonata and it isn't as bad as you would think but there is NOTHING that replaces torque as far as the actual feel of driving.

No and no. More moving parts = more potential for failure. Period, point blank. Turbocharged cars are also much more sensitive to fuel quality (meaning a bad tank of gas can ruin the entire motor, versus a naturally aspirated engine just running like shyt until the gas is changed out).

If you need power and reliability a naturally aspirated V8 is option A and everything else is a replacement with a catch.

This is because cars with small motors are geared like fukking go-karts.

Cars with big motors make torque and don't need to spin as fast to accelerate.

Go test drive a newer V8 with an 8 speed and it will knock your fukking socks off I promise.

The German is a BMW. The American is...probably something from GM? Or newer Dodge?

The Japanese I have no idea. Tundra or Titan?

That generation Mustang is awful. The Camaro and Challenger have long 1st gears which is why they felt heavy.

Its interesting that you liked the G8 given that it is 80% the same car as the Camaro. In fact, depending on the trim level, the engine and transmission would be exactly thr same.

Look for a 2015+ Charger/Challenger. If thats in your price range then those are your best bet.

If that's a little high, I would go for 2011+ Mustang with the 5.0. They're a lot better than the 2005-10 Mustangs.

That's true, except the part about a bad tank ruining the engine.

Yea turbo cars kinda scare me but that q50 with the 3.0t been able to get up to 500hp and they're pretty cheap for the potential

Just got my 1st V8. Went from a V6 Maxima to a V8 5.0 Ford F-150. I almost bought the eco boost v6. Which is a great engine. I saw the V8 sitting there and the sales guy said it has the coyote mustang engine. I was :patrice: Decided to test drive that fukker. :jbhmm:

 Copped it with no regrets.
