Hitboys beats were consistently boring maybe. But that's about it. While kd3 may not have a single bad song. It also didn't have many great songs. I would say "Get Light" was the only great beat on that whole album. Everything else was forgettable. Hitboy will always be a B level guy. Which is why barely anybody uses him anymore except for Nas. Most of his beats are repetitive, dull, and horribly mixed.

Absolutely NOTHING on kd3 compares to the heart part 6. Hey now. Wacced out murals. Tv Off. Reincarnated. Duckworth. Fear. DNA. Feel.

Even the highs on Mr Morale are far better than the highs of kd3.

Count me out, N95, rich spirit, savior>>>>>Kd3

And the most importantly, Kendricks pen is better than nas's at this point. Nas is still dope but nowhere near his prime level. Kendrick is superior is every aspect. Which is why even Nas acknowledges that Kendrick is the current king.

Hey Now being one of your examples as better than some of the best on KD3 :mjlol:

Hey Now is not better than Legit, Thun, Michael & Quincy, Reminisce, Once a Man, Twice, etc...come on. This is making me question your entire taste lmao

Now to be fair you named some great songs. But we gotta take the whole albums into account. Like Damn...you named its four best songs. But for every Duckworth or Feel, there's a God and Pride there too. It's the same reason why I Am isn't considered one of Nas best even though IMO it has two of the best storytelling songs he ever wrote (Small World and Undying Love). Consistency, it's important in albums. Damn and Mr. Morale lack consistency even if there are high highs on them.

Take Count Me Out and N95 for example. Cool songs, just not crazy about when Kendrick does the weird voices. Wouldn't put them over the best on KD3.

Like I said, GNX is the most consistent and the best argument. Not mad at anyone preferring it over KD3 but also not mad at anyone preferring KD3 over it.

When them synths kick in on Hey Now that shyt goes crazy :stopitslime: .....but I'm a guy who enjoys the commercial bangers when executed right. And Hey Now was executed perfectly. I used that song to show the versatility in Kendricks music. Something Nas also attempts to do when he makes songs like 30, yktv, and Blue Bentley. But he's just not able to do that lane on Kendricks level. He never has been. And that counts for something. Kendrick can do the mainstream and pure hip hop sound better anybody right now.

I'm just not a fan of hitboy. Nas gotta move on. Nas could prolly drop a classic with Kendricks production team. But hitboys production loses replay value too quickly. He's a beat maker. He makes subpar loops and then puts some weak ass drums over em. That's why his production gets old fast. He doesn't know how to really flesh out the music cause he's not skilled enough. It's not a knock, it's just the truth. He can't compare to sounwave on any level.

Nas got the better peak and also the deeper discography. You can say Kendrick been more consistent over the first six or seven studio albums in comparison, but discography is the whole body of work. Using the KD and Magic series against Nas is weird, given how well received its been and it's coming at an age where most his contemporaries are retired or completely washed.

Take their top 25 solo tracks and top 10 guest spots. Or top 100 solo tracks and top 20 guest spots. You think Kendrick wins in those conversations, cool, but I'm not seeing it. And that's no knock on Kendrick.

Yep, Kendrick is a great mc but let's compare what's comparable

Nas got legendary verses like

Live at the barbeque
Verbal intercourse
Eye for an eye
Mo money mo murder
It's mine
Let my nikkas live

just to name a few, Kendrick got none of those. There's levels to this, people need to stop it

As I said before this conversation only has legs for debate when Kendrick is dropping critically acclaimed albums well into his 50’s.

Nas has done something NO OTHER rapper has ever done. Had the highest acclaimed rap album on his FIFTEENTH project. Kendrick gotta make it there before we even consider him in Nas league.

you guys relaly overrating them hitboy albums:snoop:

Some may be overrating them, others are underrating them.

Fact is, a late 40s, early 50s rapper dropping six albums in four years, getting a very positive response and doing respectable numbers on an independent is unprecedented. Using those albums as any sort of knock against Nas as an artist is wild.

i’m listening to this kd3 and i just dont see it

magic & kd2 are the only albums that have the case to be seen as good/great albums

but this kd3 to me is just ok to me. Nastradamus & I Am is better than these albums to me

fukking with KD2 and Magic but not liking KD3 makes ZERO sense...KD3 is basically Magic styled flow/lyricism with KD2 styled production...I mean what's not to like?

But okay even if you don't fukk with KD3 for whatever reason you have, you still fukk with KD2, Magic, I Am, and EVEN Nastradamus...I'm assuming you also fukk with Nas other classics (Illmatic, IWW, Stillmatic, The Lost Tapes, etc.)...that's like numerous good to great albums, how is that not at the very least on the same level as Kendrick's discography?

it is on the same level of kendricks catalog.

but i will always prefer kendrick catalog more just because i connect to the music more. and the diversity.

especially cause i’m from cali and albums like tpab & gnx have a mix of that cali sound.

now i relate to nas albums too especially Lost tapes 1:mjcry:
once that album clicked for me in 2020…man that album is just too special to me.:to:

Nobody is saying that they're all that impactful but most of them are definitely quality/acclaimed music with stellar rapping/lyricism.

Only Magic 2 was truly a miss.

Some of ya'll are underrating Nas's consistency just because he's not in the spotlight or making radio hits anymore.

There's no way in hell Magic 1, KD2, and KD3 are "overrated" in any way though.

Those are very quality rap albums and some of the best released in their respective years.

Also, here's the thing.

If the argument is that Kendrick has a better discography than Nas because of his consistency, then you'd have to concede that Kendrick straight up has a better discography than more than 90% of hip hop even beating the likes of Jay-Z, Tupac, Kanye, Ghostface, Cube, Scarface, Tribe, etc. since they've all dropped at least one non-good album in their catalog.

Don't play double standards. If Nas can't use the highs in his catalog to say he has a better discography, then neither should any other rapper.

At the end of the day though, if we're comparing Kendrick's 6 solo albums to Nas's best 6, I'm taking Nas's on average. Kendrick still has a very strong discography though. And I wouldn't fault someone for thinking he has the better discography than Nas. I'd much rather it be Kendrick than J Cole or Drake lol.
