Vince Carter had more "impact" overall because of his entertainment factor and popularity. Vince hit higher highs as well, but I feel like Jamison was more consistent over his career. Carter led better teams early on but it's not like he actually led them anywhere. I always wonder though how much the course of basketball history would have changed had Vince hit that jumper against the Sixers in Game 7 back in '01... Iverson wouldn't be looked at in the same way, nor would Carter.
Vince has a pretty decent chance to make the HOF though... but hell, knowing the Basketball HOF, Antawn has an outside (waaayyy outside, but still) shot as well.
And, yes, I'm talking about both of them as though their careers are over because, let's face it, their careers ARE over.
Vince is probably a HOFer
Tawn is not
Maybe from 98 to early 2000 he was there with pre-superstar Kobe, but that's where it ended.Vince had a much higher peak and was more impactful at his peak. He was right there with Kobe and T-Mac for a time. Tawn never reached such heights. He's just been a consistently good player who can put points on the board but has never really helped a team win.
Because of how popular he was back then. He was injured half of the time he was making the all-star teams. Grant Hill made the all-star team in 2001 and he only played 4 games for that entire year. Yao made the all-star team in 2011 and he only played in 5 games that year.Vince made EIGHT straight all-star games...to do that, you're an elite player.

Antawn was never "elite." Plus Vince single-handedly carried two teams -- one Nets team and one Raps team -- to the playoffs.
He did. With the Magic in 2010.
Kidd carried the Nets to 2 Finals. Nets w/Vince didn't make it past the 2nd round... in fact I don't think he's ever made it past the 2nd round.

there were stretches of time where I forgot Jamison even existed. I at least always knew of Vince's whereabouts.
I don't know enough of how they select HOFers, but Vince ain't had nearly enough impact in the L IMO to get in the HOF.
