I dont even see how this is close. I'd take Vince Carter all day everyday. Put it like this knowing what you know now about their careers from this point on back, if you had to go back in that draft and pick one, you'd easily take Vince Carter. Vince Carter for a good stretch of his career was a top 10 player (top 3 perimeter) player, Antawn Jamison? Nah he's a decent 2nd option on a good day.

Would you rather drive an entry level Benz or a big body Ac?

I never saw anyone successfully build around Vince. Therefore I would call him a lower tier superstar in terms of actual production, not just style points.

Vince had that "flash now but time will reveal game". We used to compare him to Kobe but at the end of the day he's not even on T-Mac's level.

Vince would have been a great #2 option IMO. But he clearly wasn't built to carry anyone.

Anybody else think that Vince probably isnt going to be a hall of famer as suggested earlier? What would put him in there? Refresh my memory. He is in the 20K points club but is that the standard these days? The most dominant dunker Ive ever seeen sure. But what else. Ive never really given thought to him as a hall of fame material. If he does get in, its gonna be waaaayyy down the line with a weak class.

EDIT: ehh looking back i guess i can see him being in there.

Vince Carter made me fall in love with basketball between the Olympics, teaming up with T-Mac and all the publicity they got, his great performances on the court and the dunk contest.

He MADE the Air Canada Center. They would have no fanbase in the states if not for him. They owe him a lot, even though I pretty much stopped caring about them after he left and they drafted Rafael Araujo :smugfavre:

Vince ain't no damn Hall of Famer. Stop it

Only reason the Raptors made noise in 01' because the east was historically bad at that point

Should we use that against Iverson too? :aicmon:

And Vince is probably a HOFer. If Reggie Miller is in, then Vince should be in.

Vince is this era's David Thompson who also is in the HOF

Good question

HOF is based off college career too right? If so, Twan going in because he has a player of the year title.

It's relatively "easy" to get into the basketball HOF. It's not like the NFL.

Like Kwame Brown might get in just for being the first HS kid to go #1 overall easy. :aicmon:

Should Glen Robinson get in? Cuz Big Dog was a top 5 college player in the 1990s

You need to have an amazing career with top notch highlights like Christian Lattener to get into the HOF.

Tawn had a great college career but I can't see him getting in with that.

Vince Carter had more "impact" overall because of his entertainment factor and popularity. Vince hit higher highs as well, but I feel like Jamison was more consistent over his career. Carter led better teams early on but it's not like he actually led them anywhere. I always wonder though how much the course of basketball history would have changed had Vince hit that jumper against the Sixers in Game 7 back in '01... Iverson wouldn't be looked at in the same way, nor would Carter.

Vince has a pretty decent chance to make the HOF though... but hell, knowing the Basketball HOF, Antawn has an outside (waaayyy outside, but still) shot as well.

And, yes, I'm talking about both of them as though their careers are over because, let's face it, their careers ARE over.
