Alright hear me out…it’s not the worst idea in the world to bring back a guy who’s familiar with the system, plays defense on both wing positions, and happened to have great chemistry with Julius Randle.

But he’s also have a pretty brutal year. So there’s that whole issue :francis:

This “getting the band back together” ass bullshyt…

Brunson and Randle 1st and 3rd in the league for minutes played since Dec. 21 according to Katz.

And it's got crazy talent. I think everyone from Whitmore back is a top-5 pick in most drafts. I like Jett Howard and Maxwell Lewis a lot too.
I got a list of 12 wings/forwards I could see Thibs vibing with immediately who might be right outside the lottery down to the 20’s

Jett Howard, GG Jackson, Maxwell Lewis, Colby Jones, Jalen Wilson, Leonard Miller, Kris Murray, Julian Phillips, Jordan Walsh, Anthony Black, Noah Clowney, and Julian Strawther.

Of all of them Anthony Black is the guy highest on my draft boards in the 11-13 range. Which should be around where they could trade up to if they combine the Dallas/Knicks picks. The Knicks also have the MLE this summer. I could see them splitting it between McBride and a vet. To then draft guys behind the vet they sign with the goal of a complete team in 2024. I
Hard pass bro lol. Dude is wayyyy too inconsistent with his shooting & can't dribble. I'd rather Thibs play Cam with his faults than Bullock coming back
Bullock would be another example of that. Basically split the MLE between him and McBride this Summer. Then Draft one (or two) of those 12 guys I mentioned and then put them on that Thibs workout plan where they got to outplay Bullocks to take his spot. I don’t think the Mavs do it but who knows. As long as the cost for Bullock is low it’s not a bad plan.

I say all this to say I don’t expect any exciting trades or FA the team needs to improve internally.

The last year of Bullock's contract isn't guaranteed, which makes me think they're trying to just get Cam to another team as a favor at this point and they're just looking for an expiring.

Bullock isn't that good anymore, the Knicks FO will still probably make another move even if they trade for him.

Alot of these dudes survive on high character. Bullock is poor basketball player. You might as well play Cam.

But he's giving you max effort defensively every night as opposed to Reddish and you know this.

Not advocating to bring him back or anything especially if you can bring back Burks. Just stating that Bullock is a guy whose going out there and playing hard day in and day out.

I'm always surprised at how low Anthony Black gets mocked. It gives me hope that he might actually slip to our range. My guess is that Howard, Lewis, and Black all get taken before we act unless Rose trades up. Kris Murray and Noah Clowney are the guys I think could slip even past our slots and have sneaky upside. Especially Clowney, who manages to pop even though Miller is stealing all the attention.

Jones and Jackson are a pair of names I've got marked to watch closely some time soon. I'll add Jalen Wilson and Jordan Walsh to my list for checking out.

I agree with you on Bullock. He feels like one of those safe moves that Rose's FO has been prone to make. It won't cost much of anything and may bring back an asset. They get a known commodity, and they'll have all the flexibility to make a bigger move if something makes sense. The asking prices right now sound insane...Toronto wants a Dejounte Murray type deal for OG, San Antonio is asking for two firsts for Poeltl. A first for Eric Gordon is a stretch too. I think the FO will want to make a move for a Crowder or similar vet, but I'd bet Bullock is a consolation prize they'll be happy to take regardless of the fanfare.

Bullock is a "Thibs guy" like that. He'll give 110% effort on defense, he's better at rotation work which was where Cam still had defensive deficiencies the most imo, and Bullock is still the better spacer even in his off-shooting year. This isn't me advocating for Bullock. It's just my logic for why the team would bring back Bullock over Cam.

As a sidenote: That trade would still be an admission of a bunch of mistakes. They let Bullock walk to sign Fournier and Burks. They traded a protected first for Cam. Then they had to move a first to dump Burks' contract, and they'd be moving Cam to bring back Reggie who they coulda just re-signed in the first place. Meanwhile, Fournier is buried on the bench doing nothing but make more money than everyone else combined.

Of all the names I hear I'd prefer Gordon or Burks. I don't want to give up a 1st for EG.....but they gotta bunch and ain't doing shyt with em. Give a future pick that will be in the 20s. Big deal.

Yeah, making this trade is basically giving up a first round pick for literally nothing. :smh:
