Even if that is true, then based on what the Knicks would have had to trade to get him. His career would have been on that same trajectory that Melo’s was once he got here.
The Grimes, IQs and Barrett's of the world can be replaced. 71 in a game can't. 30+ a game can't practically speaking.

Spida would've been more than fine here. Melo ain't have a pg like Brunson or a scorer as gifted as Randle next to him, Spida would've done damage with this squad. Hell Melo at his peak might not be as good as Spida is right now.

That eventual trade better be for a superstar, going through all of this for a Zach Lavine or Karl Towns doesn't seem worth it anymore.

71 is a great record. Donovan is a superstar. No one is taking that away from him, but I still don’t think it works out in NY because to do it would have put to many holes in the roster and they wouldn’t have had the assets to fix it. He had to score 71 to beat the Bulls in overtime, because the Cavs roster is thin.

Who was the one that said RJ should be the 6th man? :mjpls:
It was me, before the season.

Three left handed, players who best skill is getting to basket was always a awkward fit. The argument was RJ makes too much to be a bench player. Meanwhile Fournier would make 18 Mil to be DNP the rest of this season if it wasn’t for injuries. Also RJ looks better playing with the bench where he can initiate more of the offense.

I mean I called it last season but I digress.

I'm so happy for the Cavs. :ehh:

I'm happy for Knicks fans who want the acknowledgment that they were right about Donovan Mitchell's impact. :skip:

I'm happy that we know Ainge was never going to let NY and Donovan have a happy ending by taking the Cavs trade and effectively took Utah out of the Wemby tank wars.

I'm happy that we could probably shut the fukk up about Donovan at this point because nothing new can be said.:mjpls:

IT'S 2023 NOW, let's enjoy what we have now

I'm happy Julius is back to 2021 form and has only the 52nd biggest contract in the NBA.

I'm happy Brunson his HIM for NY. :blessed:

I'm happy Grimes is showing true impact. :gladbron:

I'm happy RJ has started to figure some things out.:whew:

I'm happy Mitch Robinson has similar numbers this year as Gobert.:ahh:

Let's fukking go, Knickas.

The only hole we would've had to fill would be at SF, I'd be willing to make that trade for Mitchell and figure the rest out after. I still don't think we're losing more than gaining if we make that trade, not even close, and if another opportunity for a superstar on the level of Mitchell (or better) comes around I'd be more than happy to throw RJ, Grimes and IQ into the deal. Tbf I'm hoping for it. We'll just agree to disagree on this.

He was underestimated all types of silly critiques and justifications for not trading for him. :comeon:

He has even exceeded my expectations for him this season.

He’s also better than Carmelo Anthony ever was.
had to go overboard :mjlol:

"He's too short to play with Brunson!" Meanwhile we're regularly running IQ at the two.

Yes I'm salty that's the type of greatness the Knicks is missing :to:
Wouldn't of been worth it to get him with the way ainge was acting.
and if we were gonna go after him, we shouldnt of got brunson.

timing wasn't right and da whole thing was a cluster fukk.

im at peace with not gettin him. our front office is trash though

Mitchell is actually better than Carmelo quite easily without thinking twice.

Mitchell is essentially a hybrid of Wade/Lillard at the moment. He is an even more explosive scorer (better shooter and driver) and his playmaking (composed floor general, quick decision maker, high end kick out passer, P&R orchestrator) is what clearly gives him the edge. He also has the ability to play defense and plays at a less impactful defensive position where he doesn’t hurt you as much anyway.

Question is why do you think Melo is better? If your answer is simply he’s 6’8 then ain’t shyt to talk about. Melo being better can only be justified by old time bias and Melo’s position in the culture.

im just gonna say that this is an entirely different league then it was even 10 years ago and a lot of da numbers you are seeing (not just spida's) are inflated because no ones playing defense and its very easy to score.

if you put a prime carmelo anthony in todays league, spida being better than him wouldnt even be a thought in your mind lol

and he's not a more explosive scorer than prime carmelo anthony lol you need hit up you tube my guy, melo's one of da best scorer's with one of da best bags ever. His peers understand that more than fans because the media and fans have built certain narratives about him.

it's actually borderline disrespectful to even say something like that lol
