If the team can't trade Randle then they may have to bench him. One of the biggest issues this team faces is starting line up goes ice cold way too often because they can't shoot. I can't find the star but the starting line up is getting outscored pretty badly and Randle has low-key been the worst player on the team.

At some point I think the team should roll with a starting lineup of:
Brunson
Grimes
Barrett
Obi
Hartenstein
That's still a middle of the road team but it's high end middle of the road; right now the Knicks look like a 35 win team....again. I'd hate to lose Mitch's rim protection, but the best way to maximize everybody is to let Barrett play point forward and surround him with shooters. Barrett suffers the most if the team plays any other way and has the most to gain from a lineup like that so you kind of have to cater to him a bit. Thibs may be to stubborn to adjust though, and even though he gets players to respond to him like no other in the league, if he can't pivot a bit then maybe it's time for a change.

In all seriousness the Knicks have two major problems that needs to be fixed. One is the perimeter defense and secondly how do you beat the zone defense.

In theory to beat a zone defense you have to stretch them out and break it. By logic measures the only way the Knicks can do this would be to start Harestein since his three point ability as a center would allow the Knicks to play a semi 5 and out and increase space. Just feel like there’s politics that may stop this move (Mitchell contract).

And the perimeter issue can be solved in theory by plugging in Quinten Grimes and making him the primary defender thus moving Barrett to a secondary defender role which may benefit him the most. Grimes guarding point guard’s and shooting guards (His speciality) vs Barrett guarding small forwards (His speciality) would help on defense. Grimes played great against Dejounte even though it was garbage time.
if every team we played ran zone on us for 48 minutes, we wouldnt win more than 15 gamea

You know, if Thibs didn't do hockey substitutions, this would even be an issue. He could sub Hart in for Mitch when teams tried to play zone. Thibs just prefers coaching badly again. His bad habits are legit something can't quit, and they can't bring in an offensive coordinator without putting Thibs in a situation where he might go more stupid.

If they don't go on a win streak I predict Thibs is gone around game 10. He was in hot water to end last season and Quinn Snyder is out there. Game 10 is against he Nets too so if he loses to them its a wrap.
