Most coaches wouldn’t due to politicsFournier should get traded and either one of RJ and Randle should be coming off the bench.
Any other adequate coach would of made this change by now.
Kant say I didnt c dat komin
Barrett looks broken here. I don’t like this look
How is this possible?
They used the exact same strategy that they always do. They switched to a zone that slowed everyone down and they just dared the Knicks to shoot. Instead of the starters dribbled into traffic and turned the ball over or missed badly which sparked transitions for Atlanta.Brehs, what the f*** happened, and to Hawkset of all teams
They could also try to beat zones by replacing Randle with Obi who moves more off the ball and seems like his jumper is improved. But Thibodeau seems terrified of cutting Randle's minutes for any reason. In all seriousness the Knicks have two major problems that needs to be fixed. One is the perimeter defense and secondly how do you beat the zone defense.
In theory to beat a zone defense you have to stretch them out and break it. By logic measures the only way the Knicks can do this would be to start Harestein since his three point ability as a center would allow the Knicks to play a semi 5 and out and increase space. Just feel like there’s politics that may stop this move (Mitchell contract).
And the perimeter issue can be solved in theory by plugging in Quinten Grimes and making him the primary defender thus moving Barrett to a secondary defender role which may benefit him the most. Grimes guarding point guard’s and shooting guards (His speciality) vs Barrett guarding small forwards (His speciality) would help on defense. Grimes played great against Dejounte even though it was garbage time.

The craziest thing about Grimes probably fixing the perimeter defense for starters is that I bet Mitchell Robinson's foul trouble reduces some as a result. The starting unit actually looked great on defense when Mitch was covering for everybody before foul-trouble.

The bench was more effective but Obi missed a pair of jumpers and Thibs went back to starters.
Thibodeau sucks, the starters have no spacing, and the starters can't stop any ball handlers which means the big men either get dogged or pick up fouls.
...brightside, Grimes defended Murray a couple times in garbage time and stayed in front of him.
