I don’t think Barrett is a bad player he’s just a victim of unforeseen circumstance. He’s in a system that doesn’t play to his strengths (Going downhill). This team with Barrett and Obi was supposed to be a run and gun style team but the two best free agent signings are notorious slow paced heavy Iso players (Brunson and Randle). It’s forcing Barrett into being a catch and shoot three point player (That’s not him).

:manny: Look at Julius and Brunson shot profile and skillset

Look at number 3 & 7

Look at B-Ball index best Iso players (8 & 10)

^^^ This style of basketball hurts a player like Barrett (He can’t get Rhythm)

RJ is a good player who would be better suited coming off the bench working against other bench squads. He'd probably be 6th man of the year.

He also has a good work ethic and a passion for the game, so I fully expect him to get slightly better every year.

Ideally he's a 6th man and kills opposing benches. Second most ideal, Knicks flip him as a piece for an all star. Third most ideal, he stays in this position and continues to get incrementally better.

Stop sh*tting on the man.

What's so good about him going downhill? :what:
He's not a particularly good passer and he's a dogshyt finisher (literally one of the absolute worst in the league and not an exaggeration)
Barrett is one of those jack of all trades master of none guys. He's elite at absolutely nothing and his lack of real explosiveness and real top of the line athleticism will always hold him back

He's mediocre any way you slice it.

He'd be mediocre no matter what position you put him in.

He can get you empty volume box score stats.

He would not be 6MOY.

It’s hard to call him a “good player” he was unplayable and an eye sore to watch for a large portion of the season. Perhaps no player had worse lowlights last season. Looking at his splits he really only had one month with a positive +/- which came after his frigid start.

As it stands Hart, DDV, Quickley, Grimes are all better basketball players none that will get the endless leash and prioritization or pay that Barrett does.

As a pro Barrett has largely struggled and underachieved given his hype and pedigree.

I seen enough. They better pay that man IQ.

RJ, IQ and Mitch are the only young guys really on this team. Yall can throw in Grimes and we will see this season but yeah don't kid yourselves about the rest. That shyt ain't easy to get talented productive players with real upside. Knicks got real lucky the last few years.
