I don’t want a 6’4 SF

There’s only one Charles Barkley and he was an ANOMALY

I’m not comparing Hart to Barkley I’m just saying me personally I like a big team

I don’t like to be overmatched and slaughtered on the boards
Are you even a Knicks fan?

I don’t want a 6’4 SF…well nikka Hart in his career has mostly been that a 6’4 SF :heh:

We were top 3 in rebounding during the season we overmatched Cleveland physically

Charles Barkley is not the only anomaly it’s been many players in history that play bigger and many undersized rebounding specialists

Hart is the best non-rebounding big man in the league one of the strongest players on the court pound-for-pound any given night :what:

I feel you on wanting size but Hart averaged just under 8 rebounds a game last season, he was the 3rd best rebounder behind Randle and Mitch on the team. Hart at the 3 won't be why we get slaughtered on the boards.

Having RJ and Hart take the back up 4 minutes is a concern to me, primarily if it's long term deal if Randle gets hurt. Spot duty is cool, but having an Obi was a luxury that we likely won't replace. I'd be cool with Mitch and IHart in that spot, but you gotta account for Mitch and his injury issues too and it leaves us vulnerable.

Running it back with DDV in hand and no Obi, I'm sure we'll be a top 5 team again. Just not sure if we'll he any better next year to take another step in the playoffs. We've done nothing to address the glaring issue that Randle is NOT a playoff performer and getting rid of a viable back up just puts more pressure on him.

I'm hopeful we'll address it, but running it back as is, isn't very encouraging.

Breh they‘ll just replace Obi’s minutes with Sims and shift Hartenstein to his tradition position at the 4.

Let’s just be real, Obi didn’t defend particularly well, wasn’t an amazing rebounder and was just parked in the corner to shoot threes. We bytched his whole career about how he wasn’t used to his strengths. Josh Hart and RJ can do all that shyt for 12-15 mins a game. Yes Randle being injured is scary but he’s been pretty durable (knock on wood) and between Sims, Mitch and Hartenstein we can easily hold shyt together if he goes out.

Mark my words, Obi is gonna ball out. Knicks are going to regret trading him for two chopped cheeses and a seltzer.

And McBride might as well go to the G League for the year.
I think Obi is better than he what he was traded for. I also think the deal we got was always going to be inevitable. I genuinely think we maximized Obi as much as WE could. The mistake was in drafting him, not in how we played him. Because I’m curious how you (and everyone else who thinks this) would have maximized Obi on this roster? Do you trade Randle? And is that because you believe Obi can match his two time all star, 2 time all NBA production? If so, what does that trade look like? Do you then trade Mitch for a stretch big? If so, who? Do you fire Thibs because he’s not maximizing the number 8 pick who isn’t better than Julius Randle? Do you not sign Brunson cause you need a pass first pg who’s gonna look for Obi more? Map this out for me. (I’m not being a dikk either, I don’t know what we were supposed to do)

all fair points. the only thing i wouldve liked to seen him do is run pick n roll. i swear i cant remember one time we ran it with obi :mjlol:

pick n pops, pick n roll with randle, anything at all besides sitting in the corner wouldve been great to see, but oh well.

Ideally yes, the Knicks trade Randle. And not that Obi can replace his production, but getting rid of Randle is addition by subtraction. His attitude sucks and he shrinks in the playoffs. I've been over Randle.

But we all know the Knicks aren't trading Randle because Thibs has a love affair with him.

So ultimately just be patient. Why rush and trade Obi for two worthless picks? If anything just hold until the right deal comes along. Or you figure out a way to better utilize him. But to trade Obi for basically nothing is pointless.

Cant both things be true? He was not all that when he was here, AND getting two second round picks for him is disappointing. Also I expect him to do much better in Indiana, but I don’t expect him to turn into a superstar overnight either.

It’s not a Knox and Frank situation talent wise, but he was still a bad pick in hindsight
