I said this when I was promoting adding Poole but they probably wanted a return of the Rose/IQ/Burks bench trio and IQ/DDV/Hart is a more defensive oriented facsimile.

Their is definitely a hole at backup PF but it seems they have a plan to play Sims there and Hart can at least add the rebounding we would need from that spot (though Obi wasn’t a great rebounder).

it doesn’t help that last season RJ and Hart had really bad numbers when on the floor together….

what’s the realistic expectation for getting a return on Fournier’s expiring contract?
Trade chip and nothing more
It's kinda why I thought they would keep Obi a little longer but seems like teams were just lukewarm on him based on what they got back

Edit - By trade chip, it's something you throw in to make the money work on a bigger deal. Kinda like we all thought they would do with Rose but they just let that expire. So don't be shocked if they do the same here not wanting to take a shytty contract back in return

I still think they will aim for a TPE from the spurs, though we got to see what happens with the lillard and harden trades. Both might require a team spending more assets to send someone away to make the math work for a trade for either.

If all the Knicks do is sign DiVincenzo and trade Obi for picks, with all the players and draft capital they have, I'm boycotting the season.

:unimpressed:

Everything was set up perfectly. All they had to do was package some players and some picks for ONE high level player. There are several high level players on the move right now, but the Knicks decide to...trade Obi (who is a legit hooper) for peanuts and sign Brunson's bff.

Y’all did the same shyt when we signed Brunson like it was just a favor or something and not a move to grab an extremely undervalued player at a position of extreme need for decades. fukk where he went to school and with whom, can Donte play or not? The answer is yes. And he’s gonna be a much better looking signing when we finally trade for the star we’ve been hunting for and the logjams get cleared. We still have any combination of RJ, Mitch, IQ, Grimes and Fournier’s contract plus all the picks to make a move for a star.

We just got some talent that came in with built in chemistry. Only us as a fan base would look at win-win situations as a loss.

Kind of glad we didn't make a big move. These young guys will be better next season, and will increase thier trade value.

If they can't package IQ and Fournier to get a wing, then they may as well run it back.
They have to make another move

You got Grimes, Barrett, Hart, Quickley and Divencenzo in the back court

It’s a logjam

Brunson/IQ
Grimes/DDV
RJ/Hart
Randle/RJ or Hart
Mitch/IHart

The 9 man rotation is still there and if they sign IQ to an extension the only guys who will need minutes to prove something for a contract is Hartenstein, whose minutes aren’t at risk and Grimes who not for nothing needs to prove he can hold his starter spot.

I do think they might take a swing at defensive wing (like OG) but closer to the deadline when teams have given up and could sell off assets for space and picks.
