It’s going to cost a bag to keep Quick. Assuming the deal with Hart is completed we are closing in on that second apron territory when those salaries hit

Here's the thing, are they also benching Grimes to start IQ? Obviously he's gonna get paid but he also probably wants to start/have a bigger role in the offense

I don't think he'd care too much if he gets paid his due. IQ got 29 mpg last season and the 4th most FGA's on the team (only Brunson, Randle, and RJ ahead of him). The same goes for his Usage. Quick's role was bigger than plenty of starters in the league.

I think IQ gets paid with a belief he'll slide into a starting spot if RJ is the centerpiece of a star trade. The unspoken part would be that if RJ can't get a deal done, IQ is the most likely alternative.

I'm not suggesting they go after anyone - I'm for building through the draft. I'm just saying they aren't/haven't been doing that.
3-5 (Mitch, RJ, Grimes) of the starting lineup is a draft pick, IQ, Toppin off the bench.

That's a good balance. Wish we had that Dallas pick so we could get a wing, but even if that was the case they still have a lot of guys under contract.

They should just do what thier doing and stay flexible. If the right deal or player comes along they have the assets to get it done. I think they are more likely to make a move before the allstar break.

Say we do make that trade for KAT or Lavine. What you thinking the trades are looking like?

For KAT, no way we keep randle right? Nor should we since KAT ain’t a 5
- randle/Obi/picks for KAT?

For Lavine, we gotta flip RJ for him as well or we tryna keep him at all cost?
- RJ/fournier/picks for Lavine?

Brunson
Grimes
Lavine
Randle
Mitch

Or
Brunson
Grimes
RJ
KAT
Mitch

KAT’s contract and injury history is making me hesitant. Atleast Lavine has been relatively been more healthy and is on a better contract

If the Knicks were getting KAT to be a 4 night as well not even bother
That's a fukking disaster in Minny why would we want to repeat that :mjlol:
Not sure where all this "KAT is not a 5" nonsense comes from. He won ROTY, made 3x All Star and 2x All NBA all at the 5 but just cause he's too lazy to play defense he's not a 5? :unimpressed:

Minny started that shift in his position when they traded for Gobert.
