Ryan Reynold - even though I like his movies he deserve to be #1 on the list. Even after Green Lantern flopped he was still getting main actor work. Even some of his low budget films was flopping.

Colin Farrell - he is a good actor but most of his films are flops. I don't even know if he had more than 1 hit as the lead actor.

I thought about J-Lo but she is batting .500 on flop vs hits.

Chantum Tanning and Jonah Hill shouldn't be on the list because they have movies that made a lot of money at the box office

All of those actors made it. Witherspoon was America's sweetheart for crying out loud. She was huge in late 90's-early mid 00's so was Dunst.


Gosling, anybody who's a fan of movies know who he is and he is still seen as a major hearthrob who women go nuts over.

Hollywood gave these dudes chances but they never did catch on with the general public. In the case of Kitsch, his films have constantly bombed and no one knows him by name alone.

In my opinion, if your movies aren't successful, if the general public isn't talking about or acknowledged you and if you're not a household name then you didn't happen. I don't count stars who had success and just lost momentum(for any reason) like LeBeouf or Stone. They had it made, if only briefly.

there are so many TV actors who get pilot after pilot for some reason. This dude for instance David Walton - IMDb is death to a show yet he's been headlining them time after time

His career is sooooo strange this dude stays on Network TV somehow, some way. Like one year he had two shows on the same network at the same time. Both got cancelled, then he ended up on New Girl as recurring character then got another show. He's either related to somebody, has the best agent ever, or just great at auditions other than that I dunno.

I feel like SNL gives people the opportunity to have that Hollywood push on their side, but for whatever reason it only is being given to the white cast members.
Look at how long Kenan Thompson's been on there and he hasn't been in shyt movie-wise.

Also a lot of SNL people are cliquish and lookout for each other if they make it big in Hollywood.Sandler been carrying his whole 90s crew (Rock,Spade,Schenider) Will Ferrell finds roles for guys like Tim Meadows and Chris Parnell, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler still work together, even Sandberg and Forte have their SNL buddies popping on their sitcoms now.

Kenan probably never liked up with any clique so he gets left out.

For all the hype she had leading up to Bridesmaids? Her career has left a lot to be desired. They lowkey replaced her with Amy Schumer in the eyes of the public. Bridesmaids came out in 2011 and ghostbusters plus her other films lined up are not coming out til 2016. That's a five year gap. I know she's done some voice work but they hyped up Bridesmaids like she was the second coming of Tina Fey/Amy Poehler and it didn't pan out.

And as far as what qualifies making it, I think OP meant who was shoved down our throats so you could tell there was a machine trying to make these people bigger than what they ended up being. (And that doesn't have to necessarily mean they're not successful. Just that they're not SUPERSTARS the way you might have thought at the beginning of their careers.)

Ok, lets start with Ryan Reynolds. He had a run at first, post Blade trinity.He had some fun leading up to 2010, then after his first marriage he tanked. He needs to be talking to Affleck on how to survive. Emma Stone had a 2.5 year head start. on JLaw. She was the Queen of Summer 2011 remember? The Help, the was big. She had a bad 2013 and her thunder got taken by JLaw. Let's see if she can put it together, she's much better then some of the other actress and definitely better then someone like Aniston. Megan Fox ran her mouth, way too much, and she pissed off Spielberg, same with Shia although shia can act but he should be begging to get back into Transformers again.


Lindsay Lohan despite her fukkery is a very sad case and very important. She was more important then Alba or Biel. Neither of those women were ever going to blow up. Alba kept getting beat for roles by J-Lo and them and Biel decided to leave 7th heaven at the wrong time, she got sonned by Hathaway. Lindsay falling apart left a a vaccum in hollywood that directly lead to the rise of Paris and them. There was no major female star from 2001-07 that was even a draw or a decent actress like Bullock or Roberts. Lindsay was supposed to lead Hollywood into the 21st century like Leo did. We basically went 10 years with Reese being the only major actress under thirty.

Taylor was never put in a position to really get his chance. Leo, Bale, even freaking Josh Hartnett were given that it movie? John Carter was just another bad business decision by Disney, have they done anything non Pixar that was good in the past 5-6 years? You can't compare that to lazy Sam or Ryan who had his own sitcom and had Affleck and Bullock running with him at one point.
