If you're black and never seen siblings and relatives fight over dead people belongings, you're definitely a kid and shouldn't be in these type of discussions.
Mothafukkas don't want to hear it. But some of these jokers (gen X, Millennials and Zoomers) just lazy and trifflin. One of my close older counsins passed away about 4 years ago and before she died she asked me to make sure her only child (son who is a zoomer) had somewhere to stay. Dude had been in trouble and was cleaning up his life. I loved my older cousin cause she always was there for me so I told her cool.
So she dies and my younger cousin (her son) had no where to stay. I put him up in one of my rental properties to stay in till he gets on his feet. Even though he had a little minimum wage job I tell him. Hey just give me 200 bucks a month and you can stay here. Lights and water included.
Do you know that mothafukka couldn't even give me the 200 bucks a month. Not only that this mothafukka was slanging dope out my property (without me knowing) and ran off with the plug on one dope boy. Dope boy came by and shot in the house twice. Eventually the next day my cousin was arrested for some outstanding warrant and spent 6 months in jail. Do you know this fool called when he got out asking could he stay in my rental property again....man I hung the phone up on this fool and told him to don't call me again.
Yep great points. Its much easier if the parents had an asset either a home or pension or savings or retirement fund to help. Yes you hate if they have to sell their home for long term care. But if they were really hands on with finance in their younger years their kids should have been placed in a far better position than if they were bad with finances.
I still say the foreigners got the right idea they will try their best to own a extra home or have a big enough home where they can just take the parent in and the parents money they saved will be used to subsidize a nurse coming in for a few hours a day.
I myself don't even think its the home that needs to be worried about. Many of the homes that is handed down to kids they need so much work that the kids say forget about it. Or the homes is in so much debth because the parents kept borrowing on it to either send the kids to school or to bail out the dumb ass kids for shyt. Its really about the money or assets with no debt that the parents can pass on to their kids.
shyt my Aunt passed last month and left her kids and grand kids well over 350K in Bonds, IRA accounts, Pension, savings and checking account.
She never owned a home or a car but was extremely smart and frugal with her money. Sadly it ain't about what you leave the kids and grandkids.....its if them knuckleheads got enough common sense to save the money and put it to good use. Sadly most don't....an example is my Aunt's grand kids already started buying new luxury cars and clothes with the money they got from my Aunt's death...![]()
The one key element that explains why black folks are in the position they’re in now and have always been in. You ain’t gaining wealth with a bunch of ratchet single mothers and dusty, irresponsible negroes as your main contingent. Even blue collar brothers and sisters that work together as a family will have something for their kids to inherit…
See, you’re still thinking as a single mother…still thinking you HAVE to do everything on your own, as an individual. You don’t. When you have a partner, you can tackle problems together. Greater chance of overcoming them as well. You right though, even married couples have individual faults that will wreck their financial well being…and a lot of that is learned from their upbringing, often times from a broken home. I’m just saying, look at Mexicans, Indians, hell even cacs….there’s a reason why they tend to be generally successful in many cases…It's crazy to pinpoint to responsibility to a relationship status. A lot of married couples don't do shyt to shore their finances either. It's individual effort at this point.

Wow!!
People need to appreciate when others lend them a helping hand. In life, nobody gives a F about you. When you find somebody who does care, you can't betray that. He will regret that for the rest of his life.

My parents did that a few years back and are paying dearly for it in 2022Do not let your parents take reverse mortgages no matter how bad their money situation gets!
Nah, oftentimes people with the same goals will seek each other out. I’ll admit men are superficial and will fuk up by choosing looks over substance but I think most people serious about marriage will look for a partner that they believe will be able to build with. Race has plenty to do with it….again look at how the different races are raised and look at the outcome.Yeah but just because you have a “partner” doesn’t mean y’all align with the same goal. Even having a marriage in the same page isn’t dependent upon race, just individuals.
Back in 2018 there were a lot of older Black people who sold their homes in LA and Inglewood for 500k, .
