In all realism, neither party handled the situation correctly. The woman should have been more cooperative, than if the officer did anything excessive, she could at least have a fair battle in the courtroom. One thing that we as a people should have learned to to not try and fight the police, right or wrong, because we will always lose in the field. These things are won in the courtroom. On the other hand the officer should have handled the woman so roughly as to punch the woman in the head, etc. even though he was within protocol, it sets a poor precedent as far as community relations go. But the woman was the greater wrong of the two, her and her brother should not have gotten at the police like that.

You have no argument from me there, but this particular incident is just about a lady acting stupidly and resisting arrest and does not necessitate being placed in some larger sociological context.

that's where we'll have to agree to disagree. cops are given a wide range of actions they can take to deal with a situation. given similar circumstances and similar behavior between a white and black person, they more often escalate right to the more forceful range of their available options when dealing with the black person vs the white person. it is a larger scale sociological issue and a pattern of behavior with law enforcement in treatment of blacks vs whites. that's my opinion based on my observation and experience. even though this woman's behavior presented the cop with the option of punching her in the grill and throwing her on the ground, this is an example of that issue to me. i think he was more than happy to go there with it because she was black and i believe he would have treated a white person differently. simple as that.

it also bugs me that the cop with all the training has a lower expectation than the person they're charged to serve and protect. sure she could have complied and made everything better, but the cop also could have taken the higher road and not bust her down like that. even if she complied who's to say he still would not have been on some fcuk sh1t just because he can. let's not act like they don't do that on the regular..
When it comes to doing the job of bringing control to a situation and the subjects are not complying and are not responding to authority, then you have to take it up a notch. Disobedient people don't like it when their challenge of authority is taken down.
First, when it comes to this situation, its obvious she wasn't being compliant. Secondly, I don't know why the cop is using a weird hold on this woman. He had her arms locked behind her, but he really doesn't have control (I'm an ex-cop) because she could resist and get out; and he had to readjust. If he had her in a proper pain compliance grip (I'm not going to share the details of that), then he could have controlled her to walk in the direction he wanted without having to muscle her. This pain compliance move can be used on small people and large people, male and female with the same results. The thing about these pain compliance moves is that if you show that video in court or on youtube, you don't see something outwardly violent, like a kick or punch. If you've watched older UFC fights where Gracie brothers used a weird grip on their opponent's hand/arm to make their opponent tap-out, that's what I'm talking about. You don't see punching or kicking, but the other guy is in extreme pain and has difficulty getting out and fighting back. And, there's no mark, bruise or injury.

oh i think you are totally correct that a white cop is more likely to take it there with a black person, but resisting arrest is just stupid and the notion that you can resist just because you think something is not fair is actually bad for policing and society and public safety in general

fighting a cop is wrong...

just reciprocate the respect by back handing the muthafuqqa :bryan:. then let the cop have fun with you. fighting is just a waste of time.

I've watched the video twice and I fail to see why punching her was necessary.

That being said, a criminal assault by the police officer is definitely an improvement from indiscriminately tasering or shooting her.

This shyt be having me furious. I just want every cop dead. This would only ever happen to a black woman. Cacs are showing STRONG force against blacks, it's not been this bad since the Jim Crow era. Arm yourselves, winter is coming.

Seriously, are you out of your fukking mind? shyt like this happens everyday to everyone. It just gets more sensationalized because of racial animosity, history and the prevalence of racist police officers. But this doesn't "only happen to black women".

This:

Doesn't look like a black woman to me. I can post countless examples just from this week.
