No they just redeeming him a bit like the comics did . I think they did a much better job in the show than in the comics tbh even with keeping him alive as opposed to how it went in the comics . As a long time comic reader I was iffy on Negans survival and found the resolution of the whisperers to be so underwhelming, so far I like the shows handling as the heroes are much more depleted than before . I’m starting to think the city comics need rick to die or something as he’s still the main character and Carl is relagated to the far background . The newest storyline is actually good regarding the commonwealth even ricks involvement but I’m kind of tired of the Rick is god type thing everybody lavishes on him

It's crazy how many Hilltop leaders got thrown the bushes this season, between Gregory, Jesus, and Titty Tara getting murked and Maggie bouncing with Glenn Jr.
Will be interesting to see who ends up as leader next season assuming Whiskey Cavalier isn't already cancelled and Maggie's back by then

i think the show will continue on just without any source material to guide them in a particular direction. the only way i can see the show ending in the near future is if its no longer profitable.
