Now about them gloves

Some drummers do wear gloves. Generally it would be rock drummers who don't play a lot of technical stuff.

If you want to play difficult jazz techniques, gloves would hinder it. They would slow down your speed significantly first of all both due to restricting movement of the hand and also absorbing the shock of the stick rebound which is critical to fast rolls. Secondly, they would just inhibit the 'feel' of drumming which is very important the precise tones created.

A rock drummer just banging away as hard as they can can get away with it. A highly skilled drummer playing highly technical pieces with a lot of ghost notes and complex movements would be hindered.

Plus, they would look dumb :lolbron:

One of the best shots of the movie is in the final scene when they show Andrew's dad watch his son spazz out on that solo. The realization that his son is a potential genius driven by greatness but at the same time getting what reaching to that level really means was perfectly done. Even though his son is shining in front of a massive crowd, he can't help but being worried about him....and then we watch Fletcher go :krs: :obama: :blessed:

just watched the very last scene again.

in that last moment when andrew and fletcher lock eyes, you could see flecther says something but you aren't sure because the camera stays close up on his eyes... but whatever it was it was enough to make andrew smile.

i'd like to think he finally said "good job".

I think Fletcher just smiled at him and gave him the

the tension in this movie was nerve wracking.

the way that the drama kept building towards the end especially was really dope. i'll tell you to be honest, i haven't been on the edge of my seat, nervous, jaw clenched and worried about what happens next in a movie in a long ass time, least of all watching a flick that's about a young jazz band drummer and his abusive conductor/instructor...

being able to invoke that feeling, man the director, simmons and teller pulled that shyt off so nicely.

It's a really really good movie

But can we please stop making new threads about the same movies unless we have a new take on it. We have a search feature. Personally I hate when I watch a movie and want to talk about it here and we have like 4-5 threads that all have under 10 replies instead of a one 50 reply thread.

This should be a notification above the board. It's almost as bad as people feeling to make a new thread for every news item about a blockbuster movie even though they often have a main thread that harnesses all the discussion.
