Which state makes the best bbq: Carolinas, Memphis ,Kansas City or Texas?

Havent had memphis and the KC stuff i had mihjt have been commercial.

That said i enjoy memphis because Carolinas tend to use vinegar based bbqs and that gold style bbq can be hit or miss.

If I have to take my stan glasses off, Memphis style dry rubs are GOAT. I don't even rock with BBQ sauce on my ribs anymore. For shyts and giggles, someone should look up North Alabama "white sauce."

I came in this thread ready to write down all sorts of new BBQ spots to try. If y'all don't stop dropping recommendations I'm negging this whole thread.

I'll be in Kansas City in a few weeks. I'm going to try two places out. Which two in KC should I do?

tough question just two:jbhmm: I would go to Jackstacks and Gates.
Q39 and Slaps are good too.

If you do two, go to Gates' first...and you can go to any one except the one on 40 Hwy.

Then - go to Jack Stack. Be hungry. Same room for the onion rings and fried mushrooms, too.

Gates is by far the worst BBQ in Kansas City.

Q39, Joe's KC, Jack Stack, Blind Box and Char Bar are the joints you want to check out for BBQ in Kansas City.

To add, I've never had this but I hear LC's has the best burnt ends in town.

Houston seems to undervalue coleslaw...I guess its not a Texas side.....:francis:
