There is a point in all of this that religion has always been just an excuse for people to gain wealth and power. The nature of man is not to defend his religion but to gain power. The whole alpha male thing revolves around power. Religion is just a means to gain that power.

Not using contraceptives means more babies born to those poor people. Thats more people that depend on your aid to stay alive. Now you have power over more people that can't help themselves and rely on you for their well being. Power and influence.

Who's giving the aid? Who's doing the influencing? It seems like the entity most benefitting from your theory is a religious institution is it not?

Given the situation that you listed, the Church would be giving them aid. From what I've read on here its in the Bible to help poor people. So now that the Church banned contraceptives and there are more poor people, they will give them help. Now those poor rely on the Church giving the Church power and influence over all of these people. It benefits the Church as they now have more followers. Now the Church is more powerful as they have more people involved and basically own those peoples lives. Religion is an excuse for the power that they just created over people who if they never heard or dealt with the Church, would do their own thing. Now they are at the mercy of the all powerful Church.

Wether the Church did something based on a fairy tale religious scripture or not is irrelevant. Like I've been saying, that part is the EXCUSE for them gaining POWER.

Banning abortions/contraceptives -> More poor people to have influence over. If they follow the ban then you have control over their minds as they are following your rules.

Gays being killed -> Less enemies of the Church. Less enemies means more supporters.

Crusades -> Spread their influence to the rest of the "heathen" world. Eliminate those that don't agree.

It boils down to having power and influence over people one way or the other. Religion is just an excuse.
