Which Anime do you guys think has the best first episode?

I'll just copy and paste a blog post I made about it:



Basically:
-The story arcs don't drag on too long

-Because the author is a fan of manga, he already knows what complaints people will make before they make them and he jokes about it. The show doesn't take itself seriously 100% of the time.

-It has a life outside of anime because it also parodies video games, celebrities, athletes, etc.

-They can have so many different story arcs because the characters aren't really held down by a singular goal.
-Some of their story arcs are just specifically the benizakura and Yoshiwara arcs

Unless you're deep into Japanese culture and such...you're not gonna get the comedy of the show. It's one of those types of shows

It's for the hardcore fans who relish in any and everything Nippon

It's not for me, but to each his own...

just watched the first episode of that Elfen Lied anime brehs was talking bout on the first page and all i got to say is Goddamnnnn!!! Them first few minutes were fukking insannneeee!!!

It slows-down a bit when she loses her memory, but stick with it, you'll be glad you did. What happened in the first episode is NOTHING. The Japanese do not give a fukk about children........

Death Note. I didn't even want to watch it. I was into pure action anime around the time the show came out. This otaku broad I was talking to kept recommending it.

I finally decided to watch it when it was around 20 episodes deep. shyt hooked me at the first episode, I ended up doing a marathon for the whole night.

Man... I think I'm gonna watch it again.

Baccano! had me from the very first episode. It's funny because it's very talky and some might even say it's skippable for the most part but the way they set up the nonlinear storyline and characters is godly to me. I think that is the only first episode that really caught be by surprise as to how good it was.

i think death note's first episode had a hard task to accomplish. it successfully introduces a very unique premise and the two main characters very well in a half hour episode

Gundam Wing pretty much sold me on anime altogether. Looking back it was kinda whatever...

Ergo Proxy is probably one of the GOAT fall offs from Episode 1 onwards though lol. I watched that whole season thinking they'd get back to that level of quality. I played myself.
