The variance will be the story. Some will say top 20 & some will say top 50-60 having seen him play and there is nothing I nor OP’s 70% of the post in his own thread head ass can do anything about it

He’s already in the 25-30 range. With a ring and assuming he wins FMVP, he easily goes into top 20 all time and will only climb higher and definitely number 2 PF of all time with only duncan left to catch.

Giannis is great but I’m not sure how you can conclude anything from this finals run. He missed crucial games in the conference finals and his team still advanced. His opponent in the semifinals were missing 2 of their 3 best players and the Bucks were literally inches away from losing.

This is one of those weird years where it’s hard to give any specific player a boost for winning the championship. Is Devin Booker a top 10 player in the league if he wins finals MVP? I don’t think so. Adding a finals MVP will be great for Giannis’ resume but it’s hard for me to see him leapfrogging greats when you contextualize this run.

I believe in context. He won’t automatically leapfrog folks because he has a title in an injury riddled playoffs

His peak is very very high

He’s been all nba a total of 5 times so even entertaining him in the top 15 is silly to me

top 30. its a dope resume thus far but being in the flesh to experience his run and he never screamed out best player in the nba to me. accolades wise, thats a better resume than kawhi leonard on paper (if he wins) but only an idiot would think giannis is better than kawhi. i dont even put much stock into who wins this year in the worst field of the playoffs due to massive injuries anyway. the resume is cool and all but context is key.

U not applying context...

The games he missed Trae Young was either out or very hobbled. Young is the Hawks offensive engine. Milwaukee is a good enough team without Giannis to handle them. The Bucks were going to win that series regardless they are better and more experienced.

The Nets were a stacked team. Even without Kyrie (he played most the series) and a 60% Harden, they still had KD playing the best basketball of his career with max usage, and the Nets have a good cast of role players as well. I also don’t buy that Bucks would just roll over if everyone was healthy. The Nets may never make it through 82 games and a Finals run fully healthy with this core.

Throughout history shyt like this has happened in the playoffs where is the context when other historical players are discussed?

Do y’all want parity or not? This was the year with the most parity since 2011.

The Hawks were a lower level conference finals team that were already dealing with injuries to Bogdan and Hunter. They had no business being competitive with the Bucks and yet they were when Giannis was healthy. The series would have likely went 6 or 7 games if both Trae and Giannis didn’t suffer injuries.

The Nets were not built to withstand injuries to their stars. They were a team that went all in on being the greatest offense in NBA history by trading away their depth for a top 10 player. To suggest that they were a championship level team without Kyrie and Harden is just disingenuous.. I mean Blake Griffin was getting the bulk of their center minutes and the Bucks still struggled to score efficiently for most of the series. The Bucks looked like the inferior team when Kyrie was healthy and Harden was out and they struggled to beat the Nets when both Kyrie and Harden were injured.

If all things are equal, the Bucks are like the 4th or 5th best team in the league. Neither the Bucks nor the Suns should be punished for making the finals but these are important distinctions to make when discussing all-time rankings.
