dude I get your point, and your argument is sound but saying its NOWHERE near as valuable is a fukking reach if you ask me.

A great LB does not stop a whole offense by himself as well, mind you JPP plays with one of the most dominant Dline in the league

can't say the same about the Jets' secondary really..

Yeah, nowhere near is a stretch, but as usual on the internet sometimes we exaggerate some points.

He isn't as valuable though and he's not a top 5 player either

Nah, the Jets are so piss-poor in other areas it wouldn't equate.

They`d probably be a better team though

take JPP off the Giants, they still have a good defense

take Revis off the Jets, they're a fukking disaster

is what I'm saying

the Jets actually have a winning record in games Revis has been out. Disaster is a major stretch. Their defense is still beastly.

Defense is not beastly, but I think without Revis the Jets aren't horribly worse.

You give them a dominant pass rusher like JPP and the Jets would be better than they are with Revis.

The whole glamorization and idolization of Revis is sad.

:comeon:

Revis is the sole reason Rexy is able to pull those fancy blitzes and allow the rest of the secondary to gamble.

take Revis off that team and that defense is nowhere near beastly, who's left ? Pouha, Harris.. and ?

The Jets defense is going to be awesome this year. It's the offense that cant get out of its own way that ends up hurting them

Jets D forces more three and out's than anyone.

Revis is unbelievable. Without a doubt the best since Deion. He's being glamorized because he's that good. But the fact is teams have won with corners that arent nearly on Revis' level. Its hard to win without a great pass rush. Even harder to win without a great QB...two things the Jets have never been able to figure out save John Abrahams short tenure.

Teams generally move on from corners that eventually demand top coin.

The Skins did with Bailey.
Pats did with Samuel and Law
Falcons did with Deion
Raiders did with Woodson and NNamdi

I'd be surprised if Revis plays his whole career in NY.

Ask yourself what has Moss done against Revis other than that hamstring play??

Lets not forget Revis bodies this nikka in career matchups. Do I need to post videos and stats?

And all that blitzing BS ended up hurting the Jets in the long run, it became see through and people started picking it apart.

And you're talking about all them blitzes, with a great pass rusher you don't need to bring all them foolish blitzes and still get pressure and you can let the secondary do what it should be doing, cover receivers .

You're right about a lot in here. But he is also glamorized because he is that good and he plays in NY, if Revis was a Panther no one would care. But the NY fans worship him so his stock only goes higher.

Most teams who win it all don't have that great CB, because the position simply isn't that important. And it's definitely not a position that should be holding the rest of your team hostage every few years.

I agree with you. But down the line, when Willis wants a new deal, I better not hear you talking about how important he is.

Too bad football isn't a one on one game.If it was, you`d have some great legs to stand on here.

It's also too bad someone who almost never touches the ball isn't as influential as the guy who touches it every play of the game.

Bottom line by nature, no matter how good a CB is, they're impact is very limited.

Well you do understand Willis is the MLB, basically the QB of the defense. A great MLB is far more important than a great CB. But I will agree the MLB is nowhere near as valuable as the QB. Also, 49ers fans don't beat their chest over Revis like Jets fans do over Revis.

But either way, 49ers fan don't have to worry about that because when we signed Willis to a deal he didn't try and grandstad and get more from the organization. Willis played out most of his rookie deal and let the 49ers extend him, he didn't try and make a spectacle of himself and miss time so he can get more money.

He is a class act.
