Your quote basically proves he did. He took elements of whatever AAs were rocking to at the moment and transformed it into hip jop
Edit: are you Nigerian or African cuz this ain't your Lane. Should probably stick to afrobeats

completely out of your depth with a statement like this. headache inducing to try to correct it.

even if you did believe hip hop was a jamaican creation. to dumb its creation down to such a simple statement like that and attribute it to one man is laughable:comeon:

I'm African American, what nigerian do I resemble, weirdo? No, my post proves he's been listening to AA music since infancy, and my OTHER POST, ANOTHER DIRECT QUOTE, proves he hopped into an already formed culture as an immigrant and ADAPTED.
Where the fukk do you get nigerian from? What about me gave you that nut ass idea?
PS: afrobeats is an african adaptation of afram funk.

James Brown was heavily influenced by Fela Kuti as well. It goes both ways.

Especially @ 18:30 in the video.

What’s irritating about this myth that keeps being perpetuated is that this aspect of the culture is more than music. It’s everyday life shyt. The idea that this found its way into AA culture by way of some Jamaicans in 1970’s NYC is damn near COMICAL when you know better.

It's insulting and not only that they have been pushing this fukking lie for the last 30 fukking years. Whenever a Hip Hop documentary is made, an article written it is going to mention Jamaicans and Jamaica as the birthplace and creators of hip Hop. You have AA figures like Snoop Dogg from LA with roots in Mississippi, thats two places that host elements of hip Hop prior to its creation in NYC, on his own fukkin show agreeing with some snot nosed Canadian Jamaican kid that hip Hop comes from Jamaica.:snoop:this myth needs to die emeejitlee

No it didn't. You're showing your lack of knowledge on the subject.

Misinformation has been getting passed around in these HipHop books since the 80's but the funny thing is when you read/hear interviews from the OG's they actually tell the truth. You know how long it's been told that the first acknowledged MC of HipHop as far as the Herc/his crowd was concerned (Coka La Rock) was Jamaican by outsiders?

Im positive Herc knew that dude was a Southern rooted USA American but the books kept saying he was Jamaican and that he brought Jamaican Toasting to the states and created rap:stopitslime::martin:

from 2006

Coke La Rock's real name is G.S., I just spent over an hour interviewing him. I am Steve Hager, and I was the first journalist to write about hip hop, and, apparently, I just became the first person to do an in-depth interview with Coke La Rock. First, the info about being from Jamaica is total garbage, his parents are from North Carolina. I tried to clean this up because I am inducting Coke into the Counterculture Hall of Fame this November in Amsterdam, an event I created. I will post a youtube video tomorrow on my site, www.youtube.com/templedragon420, and you can hear Coke in his own voice dispell all the rumour and disinfo that has been spread about him. He never recorded a song, but he did lay down the foundation for hip hop lyrics, just like Kool Herc laid down the foundation for hip hop music. Please don't mess with my changes again. I am a professional journalist and have only posted these corrections because I care about the true history of hip hop. I know the real pioneers, and I reject all the lyineers who are spreading false stories about the early days of the culture. I tried three times to post the link to the page that verifies the changes I have made, but a bot keeps eliminating it:

Talk:Coke La Rock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

this basically should have ended all talk about rapping coming from Jamaica:beli:
