Lebron is the GOAT slasher. Perhaps the GOAT playmaker, but certainly not the GOAT passer. He is statistically the GOAT playoffs player and the GOAT elimination game player. By the end of his career he'll be far beyond MJ in assists, rebounds, blocks and perhaps be #1 in points. And he's a much better three point shooter.

Outside of scoring, defense, rebounding, passing, shooting, driving, and team leadership, Penny was easily as good or better than Bron in every respect.

I’ll give Lebron rebounding cause he’s bigger and played moreF/PF so he naturally should be better at grabbing rebounds

But who really cares about rebounds these days. Doesn’t take much skill in today’s nba. Just look at Russell Westbrook

To be called the greatest all around player of all time Lebron lacks handles, a post game and for most of his career he struggled with an outside jumpshot.

Lebron to this day has little to no iso breakdown down moves off the dribble :scust:

Penny had all this from the day he stepped into the league. And was as good of a passer as Lebron

When it came to passing, they compared Penny to Magic Johnson before they compared Lebron to Magic.

Actually Magic compared Penny to himself.

Ask yourself what type of player Lebron would be if he wasn’t a good passer what would his strengths be? :francis:

Penny Hardaway was just as athletic as Lebron just shorter and less strong

Penny was a better on ball defender than Lebron.

Penny had better handles. Obviously a better ball handler/took care of the ball better

All these are facts

Lebron fans go do your research and get back to me in the tomorrow and I might post some Penny video for proof:banderas:

Anyone who comes into a conversation saying, "I'm able to see things from an unbiased viewpoint" is exposing their ass from the start. :dead:

I mean, if you don't know that LeBron is a better passer and rebounder than MJ, not really sure what the point is of the conversation.

MJ was a much better midrange shooter, LBJ is a better three-point shooter, they were both extremely effective at the rim. Overall MJ was a more aggressive scorer and at least in his own era was more effective.

Defense can obviously be debated, they both have their strengths. MJ was more consistently a bulldog man defender, LBJ could defend more positions and was a better rim protector, they both were great in the passing lanes.

I don't think it's cut-and-dried either way.

Uh, you do know that Scottie said MJ cared so much about his stats that he would have a certain goal to reach each quarter, so that he would be sure to get his points up by the end of the game? He was literally thinking about his stats the entire game.

mj is better at the pg position than LeBron at his natural position.
Stop.
Michael Jordan could have been the Best point guard ever? Want Proof?

I been posting about this since 1997, and known about it since it occurred.

People always also seem to "forget" that MJ didn't need to be as complete as Bron because Pip was already filling that role. Hence him more "specializing" in the scoring...while still being in the All-NBA defensive team numerous times and a triple-double threat every single game if needed. MJ could've had more assists and rebounds, we all (should) know that, but it wasn't necessary and triple-doubles werent that big of a deal back then. Also the style of play of the Bulls didn't really depend on one player having the ball in his hands most of the time, as opposed to Bron teams.

I'm not a Stan of either player so I'm able to see things from an unbiased viewpoint.

I don't understand LeBron being a better overall player considering Jordan cane closer to averaging a triple double than LeBron as well as winning scoring tittle and defensive player of the year in the same season amongst other things.

Jordan did this without trying to as well. By that I mean he didn't stay in the game trying to pad his stats

Honestly, cats your age and my age (I believe you a little younger than me?) are trying to decipher from archived information and pick a side based on informed judgement, because we didn't actually see Mike play like that...

Personally, I was around a fair amount of people over time who I felt were unbiased in speaking about Mike. Meaning, not a single person said he wasn't a great player or arguably the greatest, but there wasn't an inclination to say Mike was better than anybody who ever played...

It's like the Joe Montana/Tom Brady thing, not a single person can truly say because they didn't play in the same era...

For the record Bob Costas just gave an interview on Cowherd and said that while he is with the consensus opinion that Mike is the greatest ever, the margin of greatness between he Magic and Bird wasn't as wide as people today say it was. Costas is 68, and Cowherd is 56 and has said that very thing for years, that Jordan is #1 but the distance between he and a select few others is exaggerated:

Everyone knows about that regular-season stretch from 1989 Art. You're talking like Trump thinking you're the only person in the world who knows something that is common knowledge and has been repeated a thousand times. You want to focus on stats, MJ averaged 10.6 assists/game for the 24 games he played back in 1989, while LeBron was on his way to averaging 10.6 assists a game for AN ENTIRE SEASON just this year. And don't talk about era when back in 1989 teams were playing faster with more fast breaks and MORE assists/game on average than they are today and MJ had to play a lot more minutes than LBJ to get those numbers too.

Of course, you want to talk eye test rather than stats, there ain't no one serious who can watch the two of them play and think that MJ is a better passer or better distributor than LBJ. Not one.

Don't look at stats at all then. Just look at your own eyes. Ain't no one serious watching a game and thinking that MJ is a better passer, rebounder, or three-point shooter than Bron. Whether MJ "wanted more assists" or not doesn't change the fact that LBJ is on another level as a passer.

And Bron doesn't have the ball in his hand most of the time. NBA has time of possession stats going back to 2012 and Bron averages 5-7 seconds per possession with the ball, just average for a primary ballhandler.

Stat geeks... it comes from stat geeks because Lebron usually needs the ball in his hands 95% of the time and Jordan didn’t
Straight lie and proves you either don't watch the games or don't know what you're seeing. This season is the most LBJ has ever handled the ball by nba.com stats and he's still averaging only 7.5 seconds/possession, 6th in the league. Some seasons (like when he was playing alongside Kyrie or Wade) he was more like 5.5 seconds/possession and 20th-30th in the league.

You don't like stats because they keep you from just straight lying about what happens in a game.

Let lebron have Penny's BEST season and it would be said he fell off

Penny's best season was 21 points and maybe 6 asst

On less than 46 percent shooting

Breh if Bron had that in any year

Skip would come out in the show with a bottle of lotion and warming oil :dame:

I don't look at stats, those who want to diminish MJ do. I watched MJ play back then and am basing myself on what I saw from him and Bron. Only thing Bron has on MJ is the rebounding, which makes sense since he's basically Karl Malone body-wise. Passing is debatable, and 3 pointers has to be put in the context of the 3 pointer being much less important then than now. Still knocked down 6 of them in a half to set the tone on the biggest stage so :yeshrug:
