I'm not a Stan of either player so I'm able to see things from an unbiased viewpoint.

I don't understand LeBron being a better overall player considering Jordan cane closer to averaging a triple double than LeBron as well as winning scoring tittle and defensive player of the year in the same season amongst other things.

Jordan did this without trying to as well. By that I mean he didn't stay in the game trying to pad his stats
You're going for that WOAT title huh @BrothaZay?

Why bother making threads like this without a comparison of stats and facts.

At least add something like this you lazy SOB.

If you want to be real, Kobe is ahead of both MJ and D.Wade in assists all time. Largely ahead...

Also only behind Magic in assists all time for the Lakers franchise I believe.

Kobe was a great passer and ran the triangle to perfection especially the 2nd time around. He had ball hog tendencies but nikkas exaggerate so much he doesn’t get credit for his passing abilties.

The Truth
This will be ignored... :obama:
It’s already being ignored..

Let coli clowns tell it, Kobe not even in the top 50 passing ALL TIME...

And people also forget, this is Kobe missing like a year or 2 off from injuries, so he would’ve been even higher than them most likely

:ehh:

Because it allows him to play all 5 positions:stopitslime:

Could MJ do that?

And really all you brought up was MJ’s blocks and the games played

well for one MJ was the goat shot blocking guard by a mile so who the fukk is arguing that? Can u argue that Bron has outrebounded and outassisted MJ in damn near every single year of his career?

And I kno you’re not trying to use those 82 game seasons to make any kind of point because Bron has damn near 50,000 mins played as opposed to MJ’s 41,000

I would like for you to point me in the direction of the game Lebron "played the 5" against a legit center and got busy?? He didn't matchup with Duncan and hold him down. Hell, he didn't even matchup with Dirk. Just because another 6'9" player is "playing the 5" on the other team and Bron gets busy, it doesn't mean he could play a legit 5. Meanwhile, the shoot first shooting guard legitimately had to switch to point guard and dominated to the tune of 10 triple doubles in 11 games. And who really cares about compilation longevity stats when you never put it together? All those points don't mean shyt if all you got was 1 scoring title out the deal. Damn near 20 seasons and you were the games best scorer for 1 season? The same number of times 150lb Nate Archibald was. MJ the most complete player you'll ever see, but since Bron "compiled" stats, you think he's better. MJs scoring titles indicate that for 10 straight seasons that he played, HE was the best scorer in the league. When he led the league in scoring, had 200 steals and 100 blocks as a 2 guard, while winning DPOY......that's putting it together. Y'all Bron stans always lose context.

The GOAT discussion is very archaic at this point. Jordan himself admitted that GOAT rankings should go by era. You need a lot of context before even arguing between eras. Jordan is a GOAT, Kareem is a GOAT, Magic is a GOAT, Kobe is a GOAT, Duncan is a GOAT, Russell is a GOAT, Wilt is a GOAT, Bron is a GOAT, etc.

My G, do threads like this make you feel :old:?

15 years ago on Sohh, Kobe stans were told that MJ's 3 point shooting should get an incomplete because Mike's era was different... (i.e. he could shoot them better if the era called for it, but it didn't, so he didn't)

...15 years later, LBJ stans are told that MJ's lack of triple doubles should get an incomplete because Mike's era was different (he could average a triple double if the era called for it, but it didn't, so he didn't)

Not sure how I feel about that type of argument (now, or in 2005) but good luck to whoever the next young GOAT is in 2035 :whew:

Larry Bird was known as a great scorer and never won a scoring title in 13 years. Yet he was known as the best player in the game for a period...

Kobe Bryant was known as a great scorer yet only won two scoring titles in 20 years. But he was known as the best player in the game for a stretch...

Jerry West was known as a great scorer yet only won one scoring title in 14 years. Yet when he played he was considered arguably the best wing in the game and when he retired 50 years ago was revered as one of the 5-7 greatest players ever...

Winning a shytload of scoring titles was never the barometer of a great scorer or an All-Time great player for anybody except Michael Jordan...

So you MJ Stans manipulate the importance of his accomplishments into meaning something they do not. As in, the lack of 10 fukking scoring titles doesn't mean you weren't a great scorer...only Mike nikkas flout this baseless and idiotic logic...

If a nikka wanna convince somebody that Mike is the greatest player ever, you're gonna have to use a different talking point than scoring...

And you're the one talking about "context" lmao...

Regarding your longevity point, while I agree that compilation stats lack importance if you never put it together, we're gonna disagree with YOUR definition of "putting it together". The issue is your standard hinges on markers that Mike achieved, that never existed before Mike, and don't apply to anyone besides Mike, because it inflates Mike's reputation that no one reaches this arbitrary line you have...

LeBron was the best player in the NBA fir a decade. Some would argue longer, some would argue lesser, but he was the greatest player in the NBA for a decade and for half of that decade there wasn't a close #2 (Kobe was close in the beginning of the decade and who Bron had to pass to get there, and KD was close at the end of that decade who passed Bron to get there. In the meat of that decade of dominance there wasn't anybody close to LeBron). He didn't "put it together" like Mike because he isn't Mike nor plays like him, but you're creating a fool's errand for yourself...

At his best he was certainly one of the two or three best scorers in the game, if not the outright best. He could and has defended 5's in crunch time, and picked up the opponent's best player, and was the greatest wing defender at his best, particularly in clutch scenarios. He was a pass first player who at his best controlled the floor on both ends and manipulated the opponent's game plan. I have a feeling you know all this, so no one needs to be your stooge and link examples, your google works the same as anyone else's if you weren't paying attention in real time...

No way in hell you watched both Bron and Mike play in real time, are "unbiased", and seriously claim Jordan and Bron as passers is "debatable". Get the fukk out of here.

Lol. Since y'all love stats so much, MJ's career assist average is 5.3 per game. As a shooting guard. Lebron, who is supposedly "pass first", supposedly miles ahead of MJ in terms of passing according to some and handles the ball much more is at...7.4. An insane 2 more assists per game :unimpressed:

The reason the amount of scoring titles was never the barometer for being a great scorer before MJ is because the league hadn't seen a scorer like him before. And even if you wanna whine about that, we can simplify it for you. MJ has the highest ppg avg ever. He also has the highest playoff ppg avg ever. So on a per game basis, when you tune it to watch a game, night in and night out, regular season or playoffs, NOBODY scored the ball at the level of Michael Jordan! Bron is a great scorer......just not on the level MJ was. No shame in that.

And you keep rambling about this Bron narrative where he "defended a 5, then played defense in clutch scenarios on the wing, and manipulated game plans, etc", yet nothing specific. Just a bunch of soft factors instead of concrete examples. The truth is, during his run, was he the best scorer? Nope. That's Bean and KD. Was he the best perimeter defender? Nope. Thats Bean, Bruce Bowen, and Kawhi. Was he the best "swiss army knife that does everything in each category, especially since he's a 6'9" 270lb athletic freak that can play 5 positions"? Nope. An undersized shooting guard masquerading as a point guard dropped multiple seasons avg a triple double on his watch.

Bron is a great, great, great player who compiled a lot of stats. But he's not on MJ level. Can't scream he's on MJ level as a scorer when he has 1 scoring title. Can't scream he's on MJ level as a defender when he's spent 65% of his career not even making 1st or 2nd team All Defensive team. If you're gonna change the narrative for Bron cause he's a compiler due to longevity, then I need to hear you proclaim Malone and Stockton as GOAT's too.

I didn't change a narrative for LeBron, that's literally you changing the narrative to favor Jordan. I see you have no rebuttal to these other great scorers who didn't win a ton of scoring titles, your argument essentially breaks down to:

"If you didn't score as prolific as Jordan did, you weren't a great scorer. If you didn't have the exact same accomplishments as Jordan, you weren't a great player". Yet you don't see the flaw in your logic?

Re your concrete examples, again, your google works the same way as mine, since you weren't paying attention in real time. You're entitled to your own opinion but you aren't entitled to your own facts...

For the record, my argument was never about longevity or that LeBron is as prolific a scorer as Mike. I think you're either thinking of the wrong poster or misinterpreting my point...
