theres nothing revisionist about the history. vegas never had the cavs the favorite team to win the title. the lakers were favored both those seasons bron was mvp in cleveland. who cares what commentators think? we really talking about who stephen a smith had favored to win?

The general public puts stock into what commentators say. Some take it as the gospel. I'm not saying I agreed, what I'm saying is the overwhelming sentiment was that they were the favorites.

Not true. Lakers were the favorites in 2009 after KG went down. Lebron was favored to come out of the East.

In 2010 Lebron was favored to win the ring.

Yeah, if Lebron wasn't favored to win nobody would have been giving him NEARLY as much shyt back then.

Hell I remember seeing a thread on old site with some dude talking about Lebron bout to get his ring because Shaq was going to Cleveland.

I'm talking about surpassing him in terms of his all-time stature as an NBA player. He doesn't necessarily need 5 rings to outrank Kobe.

Nah I dont know about that. Kobe's legacy is just too strong. We're going to be talking about both for a while but we're going to have more to talk about with Kobe. The stuff he's done, the shots hes made, the games he's played, the constant clutch shots he's made. We have more to talk about with Kobe. His D, His clutch, His driving, His dunks, the way he played hurt for a full season and still was top 3 in scoring, the way he scored 45 with a broken finger on his shooting hand, a finger in which was his most important in term of shooting. This is kind of a cat person dog person situation. Lebron is for dog people, besides the loyalty part lol, and Kobe is for cat people.

regardless... if it was as simple as 5 rings > 1 ring, then why doesn't everyone have Bill Russell as the GOAT?

Because in the minds of some Jordan will always be the GOAT no matter what anybody else has or will do. People who actually saw Russell play DO argue that he's the goat.

Hell Kareem dominated at ever level of the game but gets treated as an afterthought.
