These are classic songs to you? :PPicard:
You knew a beat was :wow: when everyone wanted to freestyle over it. Like Shook Ones, Who Shot Ya, etc.

The influence being strong on this generation is one of the strongest arguments AGAINST Paul and Juice. This is the WOAT era for beats. There are no great trap beats. Not a single one. And all I hear is that 36 set it all off

That's all I need to hear. You're one of them trapped in 96 boom nap cats, not sure why you even discussing Three Six Mafia when you clearly don't have the ear for southern music.

And no those songs aren't classics but the 36 songs they sampled definitely are. Most were made from 97-01 and they still sound fresh today

Funny that you bring up 96 when Southern Rap was dope up through 96. Kast/Goodie Mob, Geto Boys and Face, Ball and G and Suave House, UGK. 97 is when the sound of Southern rap took a nosedive quality wise with No Limit and 36 breaking through.

But I hear you though, if you think the production from this era is dope, then we just evaluate hip hop differently

You have a point regarding age. If you didn’t become cognizant at some point in the late 80s to early 90s, you probably grew up on hip hop after the sound got watered down so your ears aren’t tuned the same to what hip hop is supposed to sound like.

and i love mobb deep but...

paul and juice >/= havoc production.
:PGucci:
Ok.

Where’s Paul and Juices Infamous? :peeumad:
Hell on Earth? :Pgtfoh:
Murda Muzik? :Pshades:

You want to talk iconic beats?

Where’s Paul and Juices Shook Ones Pt 2? :havdahell:
Quiet Storm? :havarmscrossed:

You want to talk creativity?

Where’s Paul and Juices sample flip on par with Shook Ones?

:pdahell3:

Survival of the Fittest?

:pdahellclean:

And there’s a lot of undiscovered Hav samples out there still :pwhitehat:

Lettuce respect the production GOAT :peeumad:

One of the all time greats. You tell me how many producers have been making high quality tracks for 3 decades. Got so many dudes swagger jacking their style, their flow, their production. You know that phrase "often imitated, never duplicated" sounds 100% right in here.

@mobbinfms mobb deep have 1 classic album in the infamous. anything outside of that is u being a superfan. and murda muzik especially is not even in the discussion.

icon beats? wasnt the 'who run it' challenge just recently a phenomenon.

Ok. If we are being strict to the point that only Infamous is a classic album, then 36 definitely does not have a classic album.

So Who Run It is on par with Shook Ones and Quiet Storm? Because of some goofy social media thing? What was that even all about anyway? I don't even remember.

36 does not have any universal across the board classics. Southern classics? Definitely. I'm not arguing that.
But 36 was a C level group until they dropped that album in 2005. And what was that album called? Most Known Unknowns. They acknowledged it themselves.

I'm not a 36 fan. But I was cognizant when they came on the national stage in 97. I thought they were comedically bad at the time. Some of their beats/songs are dope though. I've tried listening to their albums; its not for me.

@ the bolded: that phrase doesn't apply, seeing how a grip of the producers that they influenced, have either had a bigger peak or outright surpassed them.

paul & juicy are more like cold 187, rather than a dr dre.
