You almost have to if your music isn't top tier that's the only way people still know you are still around/ relevant.
That's why I like DJ Quik because he still has somewhat of a mystique
Edit: I forgot about his twitter
Law 16: Use Absence to Increase Respect and Honor
Too much circulation makes the price go down: The more you are seen and heard from, the more common you appear. If you are already established in a group, temporary withdrawal from it will make you more talked about, even more admired. You must learn when to leave. Create value through scarcity.
The only rappers that I'm aware of that implemented this law in their lives is Jcole and Jay Z. You hardly see them posting vids on twitter, snapchat or Instagram posting their issues with certain people, or giving their opinions on certain subjects.
Nice one I did not take notice of that. In 1995 there was not much of him maybe a few freestyles on an underground mixtape, few magazine features, nas also did this in 1997 and 1998.Nas has literally followed this law as a blueprint for his entire career
Hip hop game, the mixtape scene, a lot of beefs, slaughterhouse and his lyricism have done a lot. It's a thin line because a lot of these artists are from the days pre-social media. Some of y'all were not born before the internet era, so things really were that different. The playing field was more balanced because you had the normal outlets. Like it or not, social media keeps your name afloat when you have nothing else in public going on. If not for the internet, Joe Budden would've been another 1-hit wonder. The problem is that most of these artists are truly idiots, being that they've pursued this life since adolescence, and have nothing else to go on, so you're seeing the people behind the curtains.
true these cats now ain't talented enough to play the mystique game*You almost have to if your music isn't top tier that's the only way people still know you are still around/ relevant.

Budden has exposed himself as an unlikable person through his own words and actions.
I REALLY hated seeing thatThen there was that time Krayzie Bone ate a booger on camera during an interview with vlad
