I don't care how old I was, I never dressed or looked like this

and is it just me or is that light-skinned kid the same bul that got shot in the "shook ones" video??:lupe:

And most ppl bumpin MCHG aint even checkin for no prodigy

This discussion is entirely relevant in 2013

Cuz now Jay is still going double plat changing rules and how the hip hop market works

WHile prod is droppin albums that no one even notices and goes under the radar

The majority didn't give a fukk about Prodigy before the beef and they don't give a fukk afterwards. One of the most quoted diss lines is I sold what your whole album sold in my first week. Jay-Z never had any gargantuan first week sales unless u count Mchg and that's 12. Years after the fact.

I think most of Jay's albums in his prime sold 400k-500k during the first week

I don't know if that counts as "gargantuan", but you have to be a pretty big star to sell that much your first week

doesnt mean its not a better album, fruitcake.

AE > MGHG all day...i dont give a fukk how many people have heard MGHG. If as many people heard AE they would think its a better album, because it is.

If you disagree, you're just wrong :yeshrug:

ok let me explain again... this ain't now... now we know these things.. i'm not talking about me.. or the few who were on the net, reading every interview... everyone's PERCEPTION was that jay just lyrically murdered P AND made... at the TIME.. one of the hardest rappers out.. who had dropped nothing but near classic/classic albums so far.. into a damn joke.. for however brief

yea everyone got these photos.. yea the shyt was years before 88.. yea he was imitating the greatest MJ.. yea P blah blah blah... sales, lyrics, whatever...

nikkas didn't do this back then.. name another famous rapper who put out another famous rappers pics?? not through some media... put out the pic, at a concert, to a diss nobody heard but was dying to hear, then called you a ballerina.. in NY.. if you don't think NY nikkas went completely nuts.. this is after you called him a bytch in an interview

nikkas didn't have a second chance to go see it in hd, on youtube.. you can't even find the shyt on any type of video TODAY.. what you think we actually knew about the facts back then. the masses.. the masses be confused like shyt now.. about beefs this board analyzes for years.. like this one

that was the aftermath.. that was the direct result.. 13 years later, it's still debated, still talked about, still an issue.. we remember that happening to P.. getting "put on that summer jam screen" is a known saying in hip hop.. everybody knows what jay did...

does anyone remember ANYTHING P did to impact jay in that way.. or anything that we talk about?
Eazy E did it to Dre. It had no impact. Because Dre continued to make classic music.

again... whole other time

now you've gone back into the 80s.. NO INTERNET AT ALL.. so nobody saw that pic.. magazines were like "word up" and shyt like that.. source wasn't even out yet when that pic dropped. east coast was running shyt.. nobody even cared about that situation until dre and snoop hooked up and started releasing music against eazy... then eazy dropped the pic but if wasn't watching "the box" then you never even saw the shyt

plus dre was already seen as suspect and not a real gangsta by then. nobody was looking at dre as the hardest rapper out.. P was actually vying for that title and making great thug music doing it.. there were no radio hits... songs for the women... songs about doing better... hell on earth, infamous, and every feature he was on was straight MURDER music... they switched it up SLIGHTLY for MM album, but it was still the same shyt.

nobody is saying the shyt cause P to have a mental breakdown and make shytty music.. nobody is saying it single handedly destroyed P.

all we are doing is answering the question.. what was it like when it happened...

it was exactly as, those who were in their teens and 20s during the time, have said it was.. P was immediately seen as a joke

The Dre pic was in the album artwork for Eazy's EP, which went double platinum. So 2 million people saw it. At a minimum.

You are ignoring the robbery that occurred before summer jam and Star spazzing on P.

Of course, the picture and verse had an impact, how could it not? At best, it was one of numerous factors that led to P's fall off.

Like I said a few posts back, the diss from Jay could have been neutralized.

Nas was one of Rap's superstars in 99, We ALL know Nastradamus was a messy, uneven, ultimately underwhelming album, but it wasn't a career killer. The only rewriting of history was done by Jay-Z attempting brainwash the masses into believing that Nas taking his usual two years between albums fell within being "not mentioned at all". The whole under-dog thing is blown out of proportion from people surprised at Ether's viciousness contrasted with Nas's more laid back persona to "Nas was done". It betrays common sense to say that a rapper whose last TWO albums released within a year went platinum was "done".
:ohhh: nikkas had me thinkin a young nasir was joey buttons status :wow:
