He's supposed to be an action star right? He's supposed to be a leading man correct? He's certainly getting paid a lot. He's getting a lot of work...

Yet how come he, his agent or the directors he's working with haven't delivered a movie that warrants his exposure?

He has no classics...To my knowledge he has no blockbuster smashes...no classic lines...yet here we are :ohhh:

Arnold
Stallone
Eddie
Bruce
Harrison Ford
John Wayne
Clint
Charles Bronson
Will
Keanu
Jackie Chan

All of these guys have had not only hits but movies that are woven into the fabric of American pop culture...

So when are we going to get that from Rocky?
the rock is a waste but maybe it is the era. we no longer have great action movies for big guys. if he came around in the 80s, it might have resulted in a better body of work

A lot of those movies are going straight to VOD now or they're just really low budget and not getting the push. Different world now and not always for the better

Yall nikkas tripping tho. Central Intelligence was funny AF, San Andreas was piff, The Game Plan is a classic family film.

Dude brought brand new life to the Fast & Furious and helped take that shyt over the top. Then there's Ballers, etc.
you know what, this is probbaly his greatest achievement on film :ehh:

because the OP is right. he sure as fukk doesnt have anything resembling a classic, just trash to decent. not even hating, but anyone who says otherwise is lying :yeshrug:

gridiron gang? good movie, nowhere near classic

I think that’s a subjective thing. Well yeah obviously it is. But he’ll forever be identified with fast and furious especially if his spin off goes off without a hitch. We’re in a different era than the one Stallone and Arnold and Willis were in when it comes to how studios think of movies now. It’s all about franchises and exploitable IP. I could be wrong but I don’t see him having a movie like terminator or die hard or rocky. Those were long shots. Yeah now we think of them as surefire hits but Bruce Willis wasn’t the first or even third choice for John McClain, the studio didn’t want Stallone to play rocky, and terminator was a low budget independent flick that no one wanted to touch.

John wick is a rarity today and I’d love for rocky to get something like that in the future but we always have to keep in mind the way the system is now and what the demand is for said system. He may never get some shyt like that and that would be completely by design

I always thought Doom could have been that for him, if it wasn't so horrid.

He wasn’t even the hero in doom tho :russ: and he died. If anything that was for Karl urban

True, true...Sarge was just the protagonist in the games, so that should've held true in the movie.

Hollywood always fukks up shyt that already has an established story and following is what I mean. Not that Doom really had a story...

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
I have a soft spot for The Rundown. His movies aren't super spectacular or anything, but 75% of them are watchable or entertaining "bored on a Sunday afternoon with nothing to do" movies mostly because of him. Hercules, San Andreas, Central Intelligence, Faster, etc. could've been awful but zip along due to The Rock's charisma and likability. I do think he could give a great performance in a serious movie if he wanted to but he loves doing popcorn fluff. Pain And Gain is still his best performance.

Yeah they could’ve made doom into anything really. On the real, should’ve just made predator in space/hell
