I remember during the summer of my sophomore year, I played rec league basketball at a community center a few blocks from my house.People of all ages would go there to do recreational shyt.They had free lunch programs, dance class, talent shows, swimming pools..etc etc.There was this one particular girl who took a liken to me.She was a lil cutie, but come to find out, she was only in 7th grade! I've always been one of those Captain America "Do the right thing!" type of guys, so I totally ignored her.It wasn't that hard because she was too bashful to interact with me directly.She would always send her girlfriends to do her bargaining.I just kept ignoring her.No eye contact.Never acknowledged her existence.You know what the fukk happened after 2 weeks of doing that? HER MOM CAME UP TO THE COMMUNITY CENTER TO CONFRONT ME!

" And this was during a game.She was on the sidelines heckling me.I just shrugged my shoulders & yelled out "She's too young

Naw see, for many Black girls, our bodies start developing in those middle school years. At that point some men don’t care about what’s happening in our minds or our maturity level. They don’t see how frantic things get when little girls get caught up and impregnated or broken-hearted dealing with a man who is running circles around them mentally. Dudes don’t see it until it’s their little sister coming home pregnant or their daughter getting text messages from a grown man.

This is why I was so serious in that DL Hugley thread. A lot of people “adultify” young girls and don’t take their pain or inappropriate situations seriously. Because men are sexually attracted to her, she has to know what the deal is and be fully aware of his intentions, how to protect herself and how the scenario is going to play out.
