idk about everywhere else...but its was waaaaayyyy more black ownership back then when our older fam first came up here
so it wasnt a failure...due to certain shyt maybe...but not exactly a failure imo

I'll go where the money is. I've seen too many people focused on "community" without focusing on actually CONTRIBUTING to that community.
At a certain point, you gotta start producing.
Look at black areas of ATL like the Cascade zones or some parts of Dekalb. Black money thats ACTUALLY NOT hood-tinged.
Compared to other ethnic groups who still have a stronghold over the areas of their cities that they develop and still own, while we are getting kicked out..... it's a failure
You can't focus on it if you're integrated and poor. Those areas weren't always like that. The Suburban setting is better for "producing" the socio-economic games we need, as the city setting has been our worst enemy for the past 40 years.
The suburbs didn't exist (to the degree they do now) when blacks had it popping back in the day so you can't really rely on that. It just comes down to how much effort communities are going to invest in themselves at the end of the day.
Exactly. It's too spread out. If America has a population of 1.1 billion people like China, then that would be a different story.
We also had more wealth. Education. Sense of community. All of that erased.
We can't rely on The Suburbs being the saving grace but it's a reality that is coming whether we want it to or not. I'd bet on it being more positive then us being hubbed into pricey, claustrophobic, anxiety laden areas of cities. That experiment has failed us the past 40 years.
Exactly. Plus a bunch of poor people living on top of one another produce mass crime. In the burbs, its much harder to see people, so even if they broke, they have to travel to shopping centers where a lot of people gather. But black folk need to make their own good burbs where crime is low and ownership is the norm.
most southern cities have crappy public transportation (which is a big factor in gentrification) so if it does happen in a southern city it wont be as wide spread as it is in a place like NY or San Francisco..
