Not sure when he turned full marine Cena, but that didn't help either... the salute and cargo shorts totally seemed like sucking up for cheap pops.

All of that was second half 2006....the anger was already in full swing..he got fukk U Cena at WM 22 and the HOF the night before. The boos started at Taboo Tuesday and the Raw the previous night. Thunderous boos. California hated him first, then everyone else joined in. He tried to calm it down the Raw after or right before Survivor Series by going back to rapping...he had went away from the rap promos after the Jericho feud and he kept calling his fanbase "The Chaingang" as if it was his version of "The People". They booed that rap bullshyt so hard...lol.

All that stuff in 2007 and 2008...that was much later. The male fans really turned on him in a Beat the clock match with Shelton before Christmas 2005. Male fans were chanting for Shelton while kids and females were for Cena. It was never more clear how males were against him than when that match happened.

At WM 21..they were silent but when he did that thumbs up weird bullshyt before doing the "F u", he got heat. They've probably changed the audio on it by now.

Watching the little goofy WM 21 match now...Cali hated this guy. Dead all match...slight boos for the Hulk up comeback after he got dominated 90% of the match...slight JBL chants...completely different energy compared to Eddie vs Rey and Batista vs Cripple H.

Edit: definite boos before the You can't see part as well

It was obvious and Cena wasn't really good beyond the gimmick and promos. You could tell from the day they first cheered him at Backlash 2003 that fans were gonna rebel against him hard. Too annoying and his wrestling was too lazy and one dimensional.

Someone like Eddie was gonna always be cheered because he was too good at everything by 2005. They always chanted Eddie at some point during every Rey match after the turn.

Yeah that was me :myman: and they even teased a battle of the bands only to have fozzy bail. I assume because the crowd would have liked them better due to not liking cena rapping.

Cena grew into being a good big match performer , but when they started the hulk hogan formula every match of him getting beat up for a whole match until he hulked up and won was :snoop: it was like batista in ring was meh but to me he was able to show charisma like Melina doing a Angle of him fukking her in exchange for not being in a Match and then accusing him of rape :banderas: cena lost all his charisma and became the unironic Bo Dallas with his messages and merch pushing shyt. It was like Vince McMahon was like I won the war damnit give me a new hogan !!!
Wwe is very foolhardy because they hold people to cenas standards when he does unbelievable stuff to protect his spot cause he knows if he didn't someone could surpass him . You think if you would give punk or Bryan the rocket and real cena type pushes they would refuse to do media ?? Or make a wishes ? They do them anyway !!!! It's just they push cena as some lone shining light

In a vacuum no, but against the top top names yes, especially when they tried to just turn him into another hulk hogan. That cena vs bischoff feud was cringe worthy bad.

I wasn't watching wrestling during this time but that right there just SOUNDS bad reading it.

Literally just trying to manufacture Austin vs McMahon again by cena just sayin he doesn't want to be buddies with Eric. It was the start of the "can cena overcome the odds?" bullshyt we've been getting since 2005.
