No one should even be booing him at this point. If fans want to make a statement they should change the channel or go take a crap when Cena is on.

However we are in the era where the WWE will take your signs if they dont like what you said or it doesnt fit their agenda.

Speaking of which, when the fukk is someone going to finally bring a Smarten Up Vince sign to Raw already?
That's another huge issue is the taking signs. They seemingly don't want anyone to get over at all. It's as if they have been intentionally sabotaging the roster so nobody gets more over. I mean look at how they've booked Bryan and punk from 2011-now. Look at how the IC and US titles are treated. Look at how pushes just stop for no reason. Look at the treatment zack Ryder got for having the nerve to get over. Look at Antonio Cesaro since mania

The "Y2Cheap" thing really did start the ball rolling... also, it's worth noting that WWE was going into overdrive with the Cena push once he moved to Raw. There's a John Cena album, a John Cena video, a John Cena performance, John Cena merch on the commercial break, John Cena promo at the top of the show, John Cena segments in the middle, John Cena match at the end... they didn't even run Austin and Rock THAT ragged. And since a lot of fans weren't watching when Vince was going super-OD with Hogan, it was WAY over the top. All that together, AND the lame attempt at an Austin/McMahon feud with Cena/Bischoff, AND the Jericho matches, AND the Angle feud, AND the promos getting increasingly goofier... by late-'05, dude was gettin' roasted. Matter fact, I don't een think he gets it as bad now as he did then. He can turn a crowd around now. Back during late-'05 and '06... got so bad, one time he tried to do the rap shyt thinking that was gonna make 'em cheer again. They booed louder.

They stopped booing because most of us stopped watching eventually. Now we are just bored so we tuned out, and they lay that blame on every other wrestlers feet. Punk's run was a great example. From summerslam 2011 through survivor series 2011, they sandbagged him as best they could. Then when his heat died down they put the title back on him when his opponent ADR had no heat at all, so it had much less impact. While he was champ, he was always on early while cena was all over the show and always last. Those of us old enough to really voice our opinions have just given up. They over exposed him by 2005. You hit the nail on the head. He should have stayed on smack down while batista stayed on raw. His entire feud with HHH was over his chasing the WHC on raw. Just 3 months later, he is leaving for smack down. Cena meanwhile, could have worked with guys on smackdown that could have given him a huge rub no homo while he continued to grow and it would not have been seen as forcing him on the crowd. I mean when Brock was the guy he was there. I see no problem with that being the case.

I'm watching Taboo Tuesday 05 now, man Cenas movements in the ring were so awkward and goofy. He wrestled like people talk to deaf people, so deliberate and slow

Also the way they tried to make the f-u outta nowhere the new Stunner :camby: pinning Shawn Michaels with a Firemans Carry

Low key that is a HUGE part of why the crowd turned on him. It all looks goofy, cartoony and fake. Makes us feel embarrassed and foolish for watching at all. I think the biggest reason we turned on him is simple. He gives weight to the argument that we are idiots for enjoying the sport.

I wonder if that's gonna happen to Reigns. Trash in the ring, stupid catch phrase, loved by hoes and kids, pushed down the audiences throats :lupe:

The Reigns backlash will be worse than Cena's, especially if they hotshot the guy straight to the title.
Guaranteed. Cena has the kids with the colorful t-shirts and accessories, the "Say Your Prayers, Eat Your Vitamins, " esq "Hustle, Loyalty, Respect," and "Never Give Up."
Though he could back with new layers, I don't foresee Reigns being a guy kids will get behind with his current character.
They already screwed up by changing his gear so drastically.
Kids would find the OG Shield Merc attire a lot cooler than the Hardy boy pants. His Character as is, is too bland to captivate the audience.
At least as the top babyface.
Whereas Cena garnered polarizing responses, I could honestly see a Super Reigns getting that "Die, Rocky, Die,", Rocky Miavia heat.
He'll always get the women to cheer, but if he cuts his hair or another young guy comes up, even they'll turn on him in the long run if he doesn't bring something extra.
He has a hell of a lot of time to improve but they're setting him up to fail if they put the belt on him anytime soon, and that's honestly not really fair to him but the business is cold.
Fans aren't going to give a damn that you were rushed by Vince to the top slot when they think you're bland and have to watch you for 25+ minutes every week.

Yeah I really don't like them adding the outline to his gear, changing the pants, or changing the vest. I wonder if they were concerned hearing the crowd slowly reject him. I hope they noticed.

I don't want Reigns to flop, so for his sake, I hope they did.
Vince's bullheaded approach with guys he likes is legendary, though.

I guess as others have said 05-06 with Angle, Christian etc and the spinner belt. But that kinda split is regular in wrestling

Although I think it was really over in terms of a split crowd maybe even in 2010. Cause even as recently as 2008 Royal Rumble he still got a decent big pop when he came back as a surprise.

All these years and the crowds are still too dumb to figure out to sing "JOHN CENA SUUUUUUUUUUCKS, JOHN CENA SUUUUUUUUUUCKS" to his theme music. :snoop:

People are only just clocking into it now, but I noticed some crowds were on it early like the Raw after WrestleMania crowd last year.
