Hillary and Trump had similar foreign policy so there were no sides to be taken. For several years, both parties have been in defense of Israel’s right–wing genocidal government, advocate for high military spending, and in support for allied dictatorships. The Republicans are more militaristic/hawkish but non-progressive dems are trending that way.

Germany has to be less dependable on russia because the more money goes to russia, the more russia will bully Europe. Just because the bombs won't fly to Berlin doesn't mean that Europe will be a safe place. Russia's plan is to make Europe as chaotic as possible and then make their move. Germany would be safe, while countries like Poland won't and that will be enough to cause huge chaos inside Europe. Over the last 30 years, the safest situation between russia and the west was 90s to early 00s when russians were too damn poor to start any kind of war, besides some local war conflicts in their own country.
America is not the only country that was critical of nord stream. Several European Union nations from east and central did not agree with that project. They were just too quiet about it while America was the loudest.

Why would Germany be worried about any other place other than Germany? Especially if they are in partnership with Russia on the pipeline?

Germans sending billions of dollars to russia which puts Eastern Europe in danger, which means European Union becoming chaotic than it already is. Which means costing partnership with other countries because they no longer trust you that much.

I don't believe it was America who destroyed the pipeline either, but Germany is a curious case because there are still many existing relationships prior to the Berlin Wall coming down. Not saying Germany had a favorable view of Soviet occupation, but just because the Wall came down doesn't mean all of those business/political ties went away. Its only been 30 some odd years, some folks got rich when it came down in their 20s and 30s and are only in their 60s. Gerhard Schroeder for instance Benefited greatly from his relationships with Russia.
The real problem I see here is America military hegemony was used to form allegiances as a new world order arose, and those allegiances were strengthened because America became Europe's big brother, it allowed Europe to focus on economic development rather than military development, and because there really was only 1 big dog as a military power (its apparent now USSR was only a ballistic and tank power), most wars between major powers ceased.
It really was a genius strategy, but the US got a little power drunk after 9/11 and the cards started to fall.

The US is literally built on colonization, genocide and slavery. That's where the country comes from. So of course they gonna support another country born in the same way. Palestine is always the litmus test in the West for these kind of things because it's literally old school european/western colonialism unfolding under our eyes mixed with pure hatred for Arabs/Muslims.
