This is the exception not the rule. Most black American women prefer/only date black men.

I am NOT advising ALL or even most black women to stop dating black men. That's ridiculous. But I will briefly explain my stance....

I am speaking from the point of view of a black American woman. Many (not all) but many black men do not view brown skinned or dark skinned black women as acceptable mates and will opt for lighter skinned black women, mixed race women, Latina, Asian or white women as their only desirable partners. There is an entire population of black women who resort to sharing a man, settling for unstable men, becoming single mothers, lesbianism, become married to the church, etc. I don't think that black men are asking black women for our blind allegiance but we offer it anyway...to our own detriment. And in the process, black women become even MORE undesirable to many black men. If your own men don't view you as the epitome of beauty and desirability then that's a major problem. Why can we not see this?

In my opinion, many of us as black women should stop the eternal pity party and make ourselves more marketable to ALL men. Exercise, eat healthy foods, lose weight, stop having babies out of wedlock, etc. We should also stop turning down "Todd" who works in accounting because we are waiting for "Tyrone" who is too busy checking out "Becky/AnaMaria/Soon Yi" to even notice. This is not about bashing black men but about helping black women with our overall PR/image problem. And regardless of whether or not we want to admit it, we do have an image problem.

Census data reveal that the interracial marriage rate of black women (and mainly white men) has only modestly increased from 1% in 1970 to 4.1% in 2000. Research also shows that black women are overwhelmingly excluded as interracial dating partners, with one study showing that white men excluded black women as dating options at 93 percent.

The longstanding persistent exclusion of black women as a heterosexual relationship partner for white men (and other men of color) continues to exist in a society that today prides itself on colorblindness and even post-raciality. Quantitative polls that measure racial attitudes of whites today show a marked decrease in racial hostilities, however, these polls do not account for the complexities of frontstage and backstage racism, whereby whites manipulate racial performances for the settings that they are in. To understand the phenomenon of black women’s consistent exclusion by white men, I examined 134 contemporary white men’s thoughts, opinions, perspectives, and emotional reactions to black women as they expressed in in-depth online questionnaires. The findings reveal, overwhelmingly, that the white male respondents, despite most admittedly having very limited experiences with black women, held grossly negative views of them as culturally defunct, domineering, welfare queens, and unattractive unless representing a white aesthetic. For example, one respondent stated the following, when sharing his thoughts about black women:

Just the term ‘black women’ conjures up thoughts of an overweight, dark-skinned, loud, poorly educated person with gold teeth yelling at somebody in public. I hope that doesn’t make me racist but honestly that’s the 1st thing I think of (white male respondent)

This respondent is middle-class with no black female friends, rare interactions with black families growing up, and who states his interactions with black women only consist of work-related experiences, yet, he expresses strong racialized, gendered, and classed views of black women as the first impressions that come to his mind.

Another respondent, a middle class white male in his 40’s stated the following about black women and attraction:

Sexual attraction for me is a combination of physical and personal attributes. If I find a ‘black’ woman attractive, it is because their hair type and facial features are more representative of the [C]aucasian race. If that aspect is attractive, then their speech and intelligence level would have to be more representative of that found more prevalent in other races (such as [C]aucasian or [A]sian – i.e.: anthropological mongoloids.

This respondent, despite admitting to having no close black female friends and few personal interactions with black women, places whites and Asians as naturally more intelligent than blacks.

My research disputes convenient notions that only a few uneducated, southern bigots hold such strong deep-seated racist and sexist views of black women. The white male respondents in my study hold current and future leadership positions in society, with 42% possessing some college education, 30% a bachelor’s degree, and over 48% are middle class!

Unfortunately, maybe it's because of racism or non-black men generally don't find MOST black women attractive. If more non-black men kicked it to Black women. Black women would drop their supposed "loyalty" in a second.

Just because a lot of Black women date Black men. That doesn't necessarily mean. We are her main preference. A lot of the strive in relationships between black men and black women. Wow... I am so shocked at these people, Its not even funny. Where do you live anyway? Because in my community, nobody GAF whether a girl has dated a black guy. I know your patents are racist and all, but you cant let their degrading views hold you back. Only racist men would never date a girl who's been with a colored guy. I personally think you shouldn't worry about what others in your community think. Their heads are still in the wrong time period. This is the 21st century. Things are different now and people accept you for who you are, no matter what race, religion, gender, or sexuality you are. And to answer your question, I think certain men would. You are not labeled as a n____ lover. Just because you accept someone for who they are does not mean it is a bad thing. In. Fact it is a GREAT thing! Keep looking hard enough an there will be a white guy that will date you no matter who your previous Ex's are. But I'm curious to know why you are thinking of this question when you are still dating him. I think your main focus should be the present, and ignore the possible future. If you like your boyfriend and are willing to date him no matter the consequences, then go for it. You are AMAZING for not letting your parents views damage your mind. Don't worry about what others think of you. Let them judge you, but don't let their judgements sway you.

  no i would not ,in fact i know a girl who dated a couple black guys in college,got pregnet gave kid up for adoption married white guy a couple years after colleges and knew he didnt agree with interracial dating kept it from him then he found out 3 years later,left her she was heart broken ,now everyone knows she did it back where she was from & it has cause her lots of hurt&pain

  I'm a white man, and nobody likes offending anyone but you asked one of those crappy questions. No, any white guy with any sort of self respect would not touch you after dating a black man. I've had this come up before plenty of times and its always the same, if they have, than I never call them again. If you don't have personal limits and self respect, or respect for your family's ground rules, then you won't have any respect for the man you are going to be with. Some will also see it as your blood has been tainted, and your temple has been defiled, so its best to keep that under your hat. For me, a lot of it is also has to do with the fact if you have kids and split up with your kids mom, most to all white men DO NOT want our children raised by black men. This only apply's to them, and is the ultimate form of disrespect to your people, you ancestors and your family....

  You should be up front about your past, however. I've seen a couple of women who will try to lie about it when dating a white guy who isn't down with it, and generally it comes out eventually and isn't pretty. Honestly, why would somebody lie about that? In the future if you're dating a white man and if it's a problem for him, he's not the one for you. I had one woman hold out for eight months before coming clean (after we'd developed a damned nice relationship!) and I ended up dumping her over it.

  I'm white and I'm currently dating a white blonde who was with black guys before. We are in a 2 year relationship now, I found out about the black guys some 1year after we started our relation ship and if i knew in the start I would never start dating her in the first place. I don't respect her because of what she did and I never will,and I don't see a future with her. I'm 100% not a racist, my best friend is black and he is sitting next to me as I'm writing this. I just think that girls who date black guys are just little sluts who date them coz of their cock size (no I'm not jealous because i got 27cm believe it or not, so that is not the issue for me) and therefore I think they are just used and broken goods with questionable morale. The biggest issue is that whenever I'm interracting with those girls I feel like they have some unsolved issues and really feel "broken". It's really not a racism issue, my cousin who lives in Germany is dating a black girl whom I've set im up with and to be honest no used up white girl will ever have my respect as I respect a strong black African queen my cousin is dating whom he was dating over 8months before she finally "gave it up".
