Depends how colonized & indoctrinated from foreign customs, borders & religions they are. Look at the Dogon in West Africa for example. They've done a good job preserving their history, language & customs since they left the Nile Valley & their is an obvious connection. They've been mapping stars without "modern" tech with precise accuracy and even have the same word for "water" & have ancient initiations that go back to antiquity. Is this all a coincidence?

The point is that all these tribes have their own customs, language, etc..

Ancient civilizations, though they encountered and included people from many different parts of the world, did not make social distinctions based on physical appearance. They distinguished people according to customs and religion; not race.

Do Igbos, Shona, or whatever claim ancient Eygptians or do they claim their tribe?
If I believe im what the ancient Chinese did can I claim their history?

Really what "race" civilizations were shouldn't matter. What "race" they were provides us no real understanding of their society because those places didn't even have conceptions of race generally - for example the real solidification and formation of race as a concept in Europe began in about the 14th century as they became more exposed to Africans.

People just use the reputed "race" of ancient civilizations to make modern political points. Mostly white supremacists do it. It's ahistorical :francis:

You live in a predominantly white society, and you automatically see things through your experiences, which are based upon your white upbringing. You don't realize it because you aren't Black. But Blacks often go through the school system, and social system being forced to learn mainly about white history and white people. We are told how great white people are, and then our instructors paint Blacks as being pathetic people that could not help themselves and needed whites to help us, which makes us see ourselves as being less rather than equal. Instructors label it, "Western history" which holds the same meaning as white history. So when you say, what "race" civilizations were shouldn't matter, you are, to me, exemplifying your ignorance. Race does matter as that is what defines a person's identity. We know who we are based upon those that looked like us in the past, and we move forward from there. You are coming from your experience where your identity has been identified. You had the opportunity to learn about white society throughout the ages. Blacks never get that chance when it comes to Black history unless we do the digging ourselves.

So, instead of speaking more in terms of your own focal point, try pivoting that point to see through a Black lens.

I like this post.

I don't like the idea of asking for others to shift their viewpoint as their viewpoint is irrelevant and they need to stay out of our business.

Black people don't realize our weaknesses and how we will be manipulated into begging and pleading for mercy and understanding for the next 1000 years if we don't wise up. That is why I prefer the :birdman: approach.

Yet still, I like this post.

My personal opinion? To put a modern ethnic concept to what they were would be, native egyptian with the eventual mix of surrounding cultures. Sorry, but I just can't get into the afrocentric ideas about Egypt. It's very clear that they saw themselves different culturally and phenotypically for the most part from their neighbors in the north and south.

And who told you that? Cacs? bytch please.

The Ancient Egyptians were clear about where they came from. They came from the interior of Africa. Queen Hashepsut led a mission to a place called "Punt". She called Punt the "land of the gods." She said that is where the people of egypt came from.

Ancient Punt is located in modern day somalia.

So please stop with these cac lies about ancient egypt not being connected to the people in the south.

Once again, I would advise members of this group to do their research on the great Dr Cheikh Anta Diop (biggest university in Senegal and the first one in francophone west Africa is named after him). Ancient Egyptians (black) moved all over Africa, and notably in the Western Regions, where many slaves left from thousands of years later.

His work is of course widely ignored in the western world because duh...

Attaching this wikipedia page just for references at the end.

It's not that we don't, I love to read to about #blackexcellence all over the motherland, it's just according to the OP and the thread premise we should focus our studying on west africa since supposedly we have no cultural ties to north or east africa.
North Africa is the only part really compromised
