So many bands :whew:, been listening to the local alt rock station a lot lately.

I like that alt rock/grungey/hard hitting electric or acoustic................but please :whoa: none of the Metal or heavy Punk and definitely no Country infused .......

I've never really explored rock and roll before say the early 90s. I might make that a summer project one day. Not quite ready for it.

If there is one song that could best describe the sound and related derivative sounds I like its probably this

I'm not sure what my Top 10 are, but i'll do a hybrid older and newer bands

Older Bands

1) Red Hot Chili Peppers
2) Smashing Pumpkins
3) Incubus
4) Nirvana
5) Linkin Park

Newer Bands

1) Black Keys
2) Empire of the Sun
3) The Neighborhood
4) :patrice:

I remember hearing those pop rock songs in the 80s that would have like that "we are the world sound" or the "New Age sound" on the radio. Then I really vibed with grunge type music of the 90s, and the "rap rock" type bands in 90s and early 2000s. Then as OP described, "post-rock", I like those type of groups too.

I like songs, very rarely have U listened to full albums. I bought some Smashing Pumpkins albums, but the main group that has stood the test of time for me from the 90s up to today is Red Hot Chili Peppers. I went to an HBCU, and I played 80% rap with my roommates and door open, but with RHCP I respected them so much I would play because as some may know alot of their sound has been produced by the same person that produced the first tracks in Def Jam fir L.L. Cool J, Run DNC, and Beastie Boys...Rick Rubin.

I will need to check out full albums, but hear are groups that come to mind that I've listened to the most or like. So many bands with tracks I know, so for whats it worth:

1) Red Hot Chili Peppers
2) Smashing Pumpkin
3) Incubus
4) Coldplay
5) Linkin Park
6) Stone Temple Pilots
7) Nirvana
8) Soundgarden
9) Dave Matthews Band
10) Kruangbin
