5 Jimi Hendrix

1. Led Zeppelin
5. Jimi Hendrix Experience/Band of Gypsies

do any of you listen to Creedence Clearwater Revival?
I like their stuff a lot, I think they're a top 10 of band from that era.

LA/Cali bands are the best period. From Tool to Weezer to RHCP to Isis to Korn to Slipknot to Deftones
Slipknot are from Iowa, RATM should be on that list, Metallica too come to think of it... :banderas:

alt and prog metal is a completely different ballgame than that Megadeth, Slayer trash

the drums, the ambience :wow:
Slayer and Dave Lombardo are both awesome, especially love the drumming on the Reign in Blood album

Lots of excellence in these lists.

My personal top 10 (no order), but I'm pretty diverse in my listening habits:
Smiths
Radiohead
My Bloody Valentine
Replacements
Joy Division/New Order
Velvet Underground
Dinosaur Jr.
Iggy and the Stooges
Hendrix
Nirvana

As far as type of music, it's a tie between Shoegaze and Garage Psych

I'm honestly not educated enough about any genre except hip hop, so I probably can't put together a top 10 but from what I have listened to, I seem to like the grunge scene more.

I absolutely LOVE Alice in Chains... Layne Staley's voice is so unbelievably powerful to me, no music I've ever heard controls my emotions quite like when I get lost in the vibes of AIC. Captures dark feelings big time. Which is saying something, considering how much of a hip hop junkie I am.

I'm big on Nirvana, too. When I want something a little more aggressive, I'll listen to Korn or a little Godsmack but I can't deal with all of it haha. I can't stand that screaming shyt, makes me want to punch babies in the mouth and then punch them again in the same spot.

I could listen to this album, Replacements' "Tim" and Dinosaur Jr's "Green Mind" on rotation forever and never get bored (may want a mix with fugazi/minor threat/bad religion/descendents/minutemen/social distortion to throw on once in awhile, especially when i need something angrier).
