Very good point. As they say, styles make fights. Floyd was able to outbox the hell out of those 2 fighters, whereas Maidana refused to box. You can see it during the fight. As soon as Floyd would start boxing in the middle, Maidana would try to find a way to put him on the ropes immediately. I think it will be a easier fight next fight because Floyd won't have all those distractions. I don't care what he says, he was definitely distracted and not as ready to fight as he made others believe. Also, as another poster said, I think he is tired of boxing. I can see why he used to only fight once a year. I think he should go back to that, but then again, he is getting older by the year and may not afford to do that anymore (I'm sure he knows this).

What are people seeing that makes them say this? Im not saying it isnt true, I just havent seen any signs of this.

If they rematch, I believe Floyd will come in much strong. Not sure if he will be heavier but he'll def. be more physically ready for Maidana.

Everything you said is what I've been thinking in regards to Floyd. His legs have been slowing as well, and his footwork isn't as good as it used to be. And just like you said, it started around the time of the Cotto fight. Matter fact, really it started during the ortiz fight. And I agree about him being sick of fighting. I think that played a major role this past fight. +rep

Yep at times floyd was throwing combinations and he just punching air.

That's probably why he knocked ortiz out when he had the chance:pachaha:

Looking back at the fight, Paulie noted pre-fight that he had no pop on the mitts with Roger and he went southpaw in the fight for a while. I think Floyd hurt his hands. Also, he won't risk letting Marcos gas because he didn't do so until the 6-7th round.

It almost wasn't enough then.

Hopefully he comes back in September and puts hands on Maidana like he was after round 5
Yeah, he was off his game. Maidana might beat his ass if he comes in like that again.

And Maidana won this round.

Floyd just standing there blocking...not throwing anything back. That's what effective aggression is and that's what it does. Normally, we would see Floyd counter off the ropes, but Maidana took that away from him
