Approved for a Smartly from US Bank. I'm going to put $5K in a US Bank savings account and have it be a 2.5% cash back catch all. I'm still mostly getting 5% cash back where I shop but sometimes 3%.
5% Store cards
Amazon Prime Visa
Target Circle Card
Best Buy
5%
Citi Custom Cash used for either dining or gas
2nd Citi Custom Cash used for either streaming services or gas
Discover It, Chase Freedom, Chase Freedom Flex used for rotating 5% categories
US Bank Cash+ used for electronics stores (Best Buy mostly) and utilities
5%-3%
AAA Daily Advantage 5% at grocery stores and Walmart 3% at wholesale clubs (Costco)
3% and under
Bank of America Custom Cash Rewards 3% on online shopping
American Express Blue Cash Everyday used for the $7 monthly Disney bundle credit and used at Sam's Club for the scan and go app 3% (online shopping)
X1 Card 3% with biweekly boost for mobile payments otherwise 2%
US Bank Smartly Visa 2.5% catch all
Fidelity Visa Signature 2% this card is almost worthless to me. I use it for promotions they seem to offer quarterly and just keep it open for account age
This setup gets 5% back at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Amazon, Kroger, and Meijer (regional grocery/general store). Probably too many cards for most but I almost always use the same cards at the same stores so it's easy for me to keep track of. The only thing that trips me up are the Chase Freedoms and Discover It rotating categories.
If I had to clean it up I'd go from 13 cards down to 9
Prime Visa, Custom Cash (keep both), Freedom Flex, Discover It, Cash+, AAA Daily Advantage, Blue Cash Everyday, Smartly
