Ok i moved from s florida to toronto and was laughing reading this because its so true

A lot of us aren't even proud to be Canadian lol

I acknowledge that I was born and raised here, but I'm far more proud of my Caribbean background. I think a lot of other first generation Canadians feel the same - far more proud of where their families are from.

That's all carribean people even if they are born in the us/Canada, especially if they 1dt generation. Without fail I have never heard someone from the islands say they are American, they will always say I'm Jamaican , Haitian, Puerto Rican , etc etc. They will always have the flag proudly displayed somewhere in their house or car.

I met someone from Canada last year during their first trip to NY and they started using only NY slang to communicate with me after that. I was confused cause they were using slang I didn’t even use when I met them. It was like they had a NY slang dictionary. I don’t know what’s going on in Canada but that had me like

Only reason I acknowledge Canada is because there are some Caribbean-born people who will say "no, you're Canadian". But ironically, if I completely ignored my Caribbean background, I'd get a buncha shyt like "you don't know where you're from" lol

To your point though, most people I know refer to me as Caribbean.
