maybe its just a queens thing but this is blasphemy to the hip hop bible illmatic.

:whoo:

they talk about the production, but isnt it kinda timeless? this doesnt sound like BDP criminal minded(no disrespect). the world is yours is not a timeless beat from pete rock? ny state of mind? does halftime not have heavy bass in the whip? it aint hard to tell???? is lifes a bytch not one of the illest rap songs anymore? what happened? represents chorus ok i understand, but for the rest of the album im just like

:mindblown: you dont like One Love? that beat is dated too? no fukking way.

am i getting :flabbynsick:, are these kids that young that they dont know premo beats? like when i think of dated shyt, im thinking it takes two, mama said knock you out, some public enemy shyt(again no disrespect)........but illmatic? are you serious?

the only thing you could say is dated about it is the mastering process. kids are used to crystal clear shyt these days. i haven't listened to the remasted version in years but it's probably better than the original.

thats the whole point of a classic being a classic. it stands the test of time.

tha infamous was mentioned. that is a timeless album too. how could anyone hear the beat to survival of the fittest and say it sounds old i cant listen to it?

and 94 is old yes, but i could take it back further and say Low End Theory by tribe does not sound dated either production wise.

and yes i like hip hop post 2010.

very true. albums created before 2000 in general have that problem. although the west coast was far ahead of the pack in terms of mastering in the 90s.

It's possible fam I agree obviously but I am talk in the context of critically acclaimed hip hop albums (actual classics) is all

:ehh: I think that it's a pretty weak criticism all things considered, but it is areality with a lot of albums. Paid In Full for example will forever be a classic album, but the beats on there sound very basic and bland compared to what we are used to now. So based on that I guess you could argue that it 'aged horribly' and thus a younger cat wouldn't be able to put it on and vibe with it and wouldn't be able to see what is classic about it. Even albums that came out in the 2000s could suffer from being too heavily influenced by the sound that was popular at the time, but sounds wack as hell years later.
