Its amazing to me how people still separate the internet and real life.

Because most people lie on the internet more than they do in real life. Why you think most beefs these start on Facebook and Twitter THEN go to the streets?

Folks out here living two different lives. :manny:

Most of this seems to be opinion. Were you living in TN back in 94? Even if you were, did you know serious hip hop heads throughout the state? I mean, you might be right, I just don't know how you could verify that. Anecdotal evidence is pretty much useless for this type of thing.

never been to tennessee but i know plenty of people in southern cities/towns that were up on nas back then. not saying he was anywhere near a big deal down there he clearly had more of a presence on the south than 8ball & mjg had on the east, which isnt saying much but still.

Being that east coast were severe haters of anyone who didnt make music exactly how they wanted it made, you're not saying much with this statement.

the same could be said for every city/region. the difference is that the east coast was disrespectful with it.

and lets be real: warren g, bone thugs, da brat & scarface all had big fanbases on the east coast during this time. dre, snoop, cube & pac were household names.

CINCINNATI IS THE HOME. Very non bias place.

That's interesting. Wonder if it applied to the Midwest as a whole. Always thought Cincinnati was more of an East-centric place based off of Hi-Tek and Mood.

I can tell you, based off my experience, 8ball and MJG were virtually unknown in the Bay Area in 1994.

You can tell by the bolded this dude came up in the 90's cuz these are facts

I've never seen a man cry, thuggish ruggish bone, funkdafied,Mass Appeal,Regulator and juicy ALL got more tick than any single off illmatic

Lay it down was the streets anthem, Everybody knew the lyrics to that song and it was debates about who went in more crime boss, mjg or eightball

Shouts to the cats who actually grew up in that era and Knew illmatic didn't run shyt in 94.These revisionist kids have no clue
so much truth in this

Someone said it one of the other 10000000 illmatic threads. if you haven't tried to rap along with az on life's a bytch, you don't love hip hop. I dont think its the be all end all of hip hop, but its definitely one of the crown jewels.
